@joachim.ernst:helsinki-systems.deJoachim Ernst There is also /nix/var/log/nix/drvs/*, which I also like to empty in such a situation. 21:59:31

@iooioio:matrix.org@iooioio:matrix.org Hi. I, er, did something... that perhaps wasn't so smart and would appreciate some help saving my system. ๐Ÿ˜…

I'm running lix on fedora asahi remix with home-manager. Yesterday I decided to move the nix store to a btrfs subvolume so I did something like this on a live system:

$ sudo mv /nix /nix.bak
$ sudo btrfs subvolume create /nix
$ sudo rsync -a /nix.bak/ /nix

It seemed to work surprisingly well but now I have issues with the nix-daemon.socket and am unable to perform a home-manager switch:

$ home-manager switch
error: cannot connect to socket at '/nix/var/nix/daemon-socket/socket': Connection refused

Some more context:

$ eza -lg /nix/var/nix/daemon-socket
srw-rw-rw-@ - root root  9 Nov 20:59 socket

$ systemctl status nix-daemon.socket

Any ideas on how to fix the situation?

@emma:rory.gayEmma [it/its]is /nix mounted?08:52:59
@iooioio:matrix.org@iooioio:matrix.org Implicitly, because root is mounted, yes:

$ sudo btrfs subvolume list /
ID 256 gen 216018 top level 5 path root
# snip
ID 792 gen 216018 top level 256 path nix

@iooioio:matrix.org@iooioio:matrix.orgCould it simply be a permissions thing? Should the socket be owned by someone else?09:07:42
@iooioio:matrix.org@iooioio:matrix.orgOk, I think it might be a SELinux thing...10:19:06
@iooioio:matrix.org@iooioio:matrix.org FTR, it was SELinux. I was able to fix it like this:

sudo restorecon -vR '/nix'
10:35:12
@iooioio:matrix.org@iooioio:matrix.org I guess I should have included the SELinux extended attributes in my initial rsync command, like this:

$ sudo rsync -aX /nix.bak/ /nix

@dr_teagle:matrix.orgdr_teaglethis is why you shouldnt expose your gender/sex online imo. it is easier to work with when you are truly blind, and also make it impossible to know name, as names that "sound" like women cause the same biases.03:19:26
