hexa | well, they are still building remotely, but I see no progress locally until I ssh in | 23:48:24 |
hexa | and then they rapidly finish and progress to the download | 23:48:34 |

hexa | hm, setting ServerAliveInterval 30 | 00:10:44 |
hexa | maybe that'll help | 00:10:47 |
tc424 (Steve D) | In reply to@hexa:lossy.network has anyone noticed remote builds getting stuck until you login via ssh to the remote builder? Does sound like some weird network issue, like broken NAT, or mybe ARP/NDP? | 07:37:00 |
ma27 | In reply to @crop_tech:matrix.org The repl reproducer above should show the problem yes indeed. Would you mind opening an issue and cc me?
I'd be curious what the cause was and if we can also fix this (without breaking compat with 2.18).
may take a bit though, at least this week is kinda full already 🫠 | 07:58:37 |
hexa | In reply to @srtcd424:auxolotl.org Does sound like some weird network issue, like broken NAT, or mybe ARP/NDP? yeah, but not on my end 🤔 | 11:45:11 |

colons | In reply to @crop_tech:matrix.org which verion of nix/lix are you using? nix (Lix, like Nix) 2.91.0 | 13:36:29 |
samrose | In reply to @kfears:matrix.org I'm just kinda confused at the whole value proposition here and I feel like the product being sold is different from the product being advertised, but what do I know I think the value proposition (just total speculation and my opinion) is probably mostly geared toward medium to larger sized companies who might want to buy services and software that are a layer over nix, flakes, etc
It's probably not targeting most of the people who are typically in the nix community, who know nix. I don't know for sure, but if I were to guess, I would venture that this will always exist as an interoperable layer over the open source nix.

Anton | I am trying to use the repl-flakes feature, I used so far with nixcpp for inspecting e.g. where some of my nixos options are defined. I did not get it to work with lix, is it possible to use that feature? | 19:39:59 |
KFears (annoying) | Is there some issue you run into, or is the feature just absent? I haven't found anything about it on the bug tracker | 22:16:10 |
KFears (annoying) | Also this is off-topic, but an off-topic room would be appreciated. I very much want to ask people around what IDE setup they use for Python... | 22:17:04 |

redsycamore | Out of curiosity, is it possible to do a Lix build without support for the aws-cpp-sdk? Is there a toggle switch for that? | 00:21:56 |
redsycamore | I find whenever I build it's taking up machine time for no reason. | 00:22:05 |
just1602 | redsycamore: I think the short answer is no, but maybe that would be possible in the future: https://git.lix.systems/lix-project/lix/issues/272 | 00:27:52 |

I have done .override { aws-sdk-cpp = null; } and it has been working fine, or do you mean the current tagged release? | 00:29:34 |

You're probably right, maybe I miss something, I didn't find that last time I check. I just found the issue I point earlier. | 00:30:43 |
Federico Damián Schonborn | In reply to @just1602:systemli.org You're probably right, maybe I miss something, I didn't find that last time I check. I just found the issue I point earlier. I think the issue is for accessing S3 without the AWS SDK | 00:31:52 |
just1602 | I'm clearly not lix knowledgeable enough, I should just refrain from answering people, I clearly not helping here. | 00:31:53 |
