@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlci am indeed doing H-M things.18:12:00
@k900:0upti.meK900Then you can't have both declarative and imperative mimetypes like that18:12:15
@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlc Heard. Imperative will work fine for me - Best then to remove the associations in my home.nix, switch and then reboot?
I'll mention also that my filechooser was having this issue before I specified the mimetypes in the last hour, too.
18:13:35
@k900:0upti.meK900 Yes, remove everything in xdg.mimeTypes 18:14:15
@k900:0upti.meK900And if you're using impermanence, make sure to persist ~/.local/share/mime or whatever the path is18:14:27
@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlcI'm pretty new - could you say more on how to do this?18:14:45
@k900:0upti.meK900Are you using impermanence?18:15:29
@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlcI suppose I'm not sure.18:15:44
@k900:0upti.meK900If you don't know, you're not18:15:57
@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlcFair enough!18:16:08
@k900:0upti.meK900Also, are you using Dolphin inside Plasma, or on a standalone WM session or something?18:16:13
@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlcstandalone alongside niri, a wayland WM18:16:36
@k900:0upti.meK900Actually18:17:16
@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlc(FWIW I had this issue using Nautilus as well)18:17:22
@k900:0upti.meK900 What does dolphin --version output? 18:17:23

@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlc(which is info I'm seeing for the 1st time)18:19:40
@k900:0upti.meK900That's fine, those are non-fatal warnings18:20:04
@k900:0upti.meK900 Anyway, try getting rid of all the xdg.mime stuff in home-manager and then restarting your sessio 18:20:20

@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlcI'll comment it all out and brb18:20:47
@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlcMkay - Looks like my editor can still open things from my app launcher, but mt filechooser still doesn't have this persistence.18:26:10
@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlcin the case of dolphin, opening up "properties" on a file and adding something to the list of programs to use to open it is immediately just not written; unless of course I'm doing something very dumb, I find this surprising,18:27:15

@jlc:catgirl.cloudjlc(I guess I am -typing the program name- instead of navigating to the nix store where the binary is so it's 1000% possible I'm just missing that step)18:28:58
@k900:0upti.meK900Hm, maybe also try nuking ~/local/.share/applications/mimeinfo.cache and ~/local/.share/mime18:31:27
