@northben:pixelchef.net | Does anyone here use krops? I am trying to use shallow copy and I am getting an error.
In my krops.nix file part of it is like:
source = lib.evalSource [
{
nixpkgs.git = {
# how to shallow copy the latest?
ref = "origin/master";
url = https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs;
shallow = true;
};
}
when I run the deploy $(nix-build --no-out-link krops.nix)
I get this error
Warning: Permanently added '192.168.0.46' (ED25519) to the list of known hosts. fatal: your current branch 'master' does not have any commits yet From https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs

@northben:pixelchef.net | I want to have shallow = true to speed up the deployment. I don't understand why I'm getting the error or if the git shallow clone is not appropriate in my situation. | 22:59:29 |

June | I'm currently building a simple NixOS deployment tool, which is a simple wrapper around nixos-rebuild . I now want to package it as a flake and am wondering, if I should vendor nixos-rebuild , potentially then shipping an older/newer version to the user or just assume that nixos-rebuild is present and then use the version installed/fail, if no version is installed. I like vendoring it, because using the tool is then a simple nix shell on any OS, which has Nix installed, but I'm wondering, if there are problems if a different versions of nixos-rebuild deploy a host. | 15:18:14 |
K900 | There really shouldn't be, but also you might want to just call Nix directly | 15:20:01 |
