People don’t make the distinction between NixOS Foundation and NixCon.
The foundation doesn’t discriminate so comply with the local organizers
there was a proposal from Tom with an Apache-like policy which is pretty basic for the entity to be legal
do we have community values that we can flesh out as guidelines?
must not be hostile to the community and goals and must align with our code of conduct
make it transparent how we made the decision and communicate
The decision is approved after evaluating the code of conduct, notes, and bylaws of the organizing entity (SCALE)

I remember there were multiple discussions about establishing a guidelines, in public avenues (but maybe not so perfectly accessible / advertised) that led to not a lot of thing, like #nixcon-sponsor-discussion:nixos.org

It is disappointing from my point of view that this is low priority and that this is the only thing that the NixOS foundation has come up with to address the very loud concerns of many community members.

I hope for the future that this is sorted out and that community feedback is considered.

I see that many of these discussion lead to nothing and are very heated and unprofessional but I still am of the strong opinion that this needs to be sorted out.

MangoIV: A proper codified policy has not been put in place yet. I've got a proposed one here (https://github.com/NixOS/foundation/issues/110) that we used in the interim. I was involved in various ways and can answer any questions.
