@mangoiv.:matrix.org | Anduril- People don’t make the distinction between NixOS Foundation and NixCon. The foundation doesn’t discriminate so comply with the local organizers there was a proposal from Tom with an Apache-like policy which is pretty basic for the entity to be legal do we have community values that we can flesh out as guidelines? must not be hostile to the community and goals and must align with our code of conduct make it transparent how we made the decision and communicate The decision is approved after evaluating the code of conduct, notes, and bylaws of the organizing entity (SCALE) | 19:48:11 |
@mangoiv.:matrix.org | This is it? (Just to make sure) | 19:48:37 |
raitobezarius | Off the top of my head, this is what I can think of, yes | 19:48:52 |
raitobezarius | I remember there were multiple discussions about establishing a guidelines, in public avenues (but maybe not so perfectly accessible / advertised) that led to not a lot of thing, like #nixcon-sponsor-discussion:nixos.org | 19:49:19 |
samueldr | Given that the NixCon NA team goes against the precedent from taking a specific controversial sponsor, I am asking that the NixOS Foundation and/or NixCon EU team distanciates themselves from the NixCon NA team, and furthermore, it would be nice if they'd ask for them to pick a name reflecting their distance from the community. | 19:49:20 |

tomberek | MangoIV: A proper codified policy has not been put in place yet. I've got a proposed one here (https://github.com/NixOS/foundation/issues/110) that we used in the interim. I was involved in various ways and can answer any questions. | 19:49:36 |
samueldr | rossturk: can you elaborate? | 19:50:06 |
@mangoiv.:matrix.org | In reply to @raitobezarius:matrix.org I remember there were multiple discussions about establishing a guidelines, in public avenues (but maybe not so perfectly accessible / advertised) that led to not a lot of thing, like #nixcon-sponsor-discussion:nixos.org It is disappointing from my point of view that this is low priority and that this is the only thing that the NixOS foundation has come up with to address the very loud concerns of many community members. I hope for the future that this is sorted out and that community feedback is considered. I see that many of these discussion lead to nothing and are very heated and unprofessional but I still am of the strong opinion that this needs to be sorted out. Thank you for the info! | 19:52:23 |

@theophane:hufschmitt.net | As shown in the notes that raitobezarius linked, this is a decision that has been taken with the approval of the Foundation (“The decision is approved after evaluating the code of conduct, notes, and bylaws of the organizing entity (SCALE)”). This is based as tomberek said on the temporary policy drafted here (waiting for a definite one). | 20:00:57 |

hexa | * is leaving the foundation board silently the plan to make up for that? | 00:20:39 |
hexa | * is leaving the foundation board silently the plan to address that? | 00:21:15 |
hexa | I would really hope for a retraction. | 00:21:27 |
Shalok Shalom | He does think the Foundation is not capable to do that? | 00:29:02 |
Shalok Shalom | Had there been any more talks, that just this Twitter rant, or did he just straight go when faced with the consideration? | 00:29:37 |
hexa | It was a knee-jerk reaction after a discussion in #binary-cache-selfhosting:nixos.org | 00:56:32 |
hexa | * is quietly leaving the foundation board the plan to address that? | 00:59:26 |
| Domen Kožar left the room. | 01:03:08 |
hexa | alright. | 01:04:35 |
Shalok Shalom | I agree that it was a knee-jerk reaction, over something quite minuscule | 07:53:37 |
Shalok Shalom | I thought it would have been something much more dramatic, judging by the reaction | 07:54:11 |
Shalok Shalom | * Had there been any more talks than just this Twitter rant, or did he just straight up go when faced with the consideration? | 07:54:52 |
