| proofconstruction | The original announcement “giving power to the community” stated that the board would delegate its power to institutions created by the assembly, but these have not been specified yet. When this is complete, this delegation could be done either by the board simply agreeing to abide by the determinations of the assembly/its structural outputs or by formally amending the articles of the foundation to assign various powers to the assembly/other bodies (possibly also relieving the board of the same powers). It would also be possible to amend the articles to make it legally possible for the assembly/others to choose board members in the future, though the assembly was not intended to persist beyond the creation of the new governance structures and the vesting of powers to these. There must still be a human assigned to the board in any case, which supposedly is just Ron now, but it also seems unlikely that the others have completed the relevant paperwork to formally leave their board seats. Probably everything is still in limbo. Either way, the assembly has de-facto supreme power at this point, and whoever is still legally on the board will surely respect its decisions whether or not the articles have been amended by then. Regarding new board members stepping up, I'm working on an interim process to make that even more accessible. The main point here is for it to be temporary so we can keep making progress as we/the assembly are working on the long term governance model. If anyone is interested in helping out with board related activities please feel free to reach out!
I try to keep this channel also updated on the current areas I'm focusing on beyond the assembly and where I might some levels of help.
For reference, sharing just a few of the current areas of focus outside of assembly related items that I'd love any interest to help out <3:
- S3/Cache - Both in technical work that folks like Edef are looking at from the Infra team and non-technical funding efforts. Currently working with AWS there, I linked some questions earlier in this room around it. There's also an effort to run an experiment with a company called Tigris Data. (All looking for more hands)
- NixCon 2024 - supporting to make that happen :)
- Taxes
- General Nix fundraising - This might have to wait for the assembly as there's many items that would require wider consensus on such as relationships with large donor or relationship with commercial entities using Nix.
