@delroth:delroth.netdelroth * I'm at a loss trying to figure out if you are deliberately acting in bad faith or just completely missing the point.16:06:36

Nix as an overall project is growing. Running this project in the current manner has downsides and consequences. Allowing strong anti-capitalism and anti-corporate sentiment to overwhelm the community means there will be less jobs, investment, and adoption necessary to provide the resources needed. Encouraging activism and political outcomes has consequences.

There is a lot of nuance to this, yes the nix project is growing but there is a serious question if our project is growing in a sustainable way. Many teams, especially critical teams like the Nix Maintenance team or the infra team have not nearly seen a similar growth compared to the over all project growth. This is not about anti-corporate or anti-capitalism, this is as I already told you in my reply on discourse about not wanting to see our community being used to advertise MIC companies.

Yep... I've put out several. Including one last night to say that more people should try to encourage more funding: https://opencollective.com/nixos . This is truly an honest plea. The status quo is not working and won't scale.

The way you frame your call for more personal sponsorships here from yesterday is disingenuous at best.

problems

i also have to assume (given individuals have said this about their personal sponsorships), that there are other potential sponsors who are not willing to sponsor us as long as we are taking money from Anduril

This is not just about potential revenue loss, I was approached by sponsors saying they won't sponsor again or thinking about dropping there sponsorship, and now of multiple people who stopped there personal monetary donation ships because of accepting anduril as a sponsor.

I want to encourage everyone to take a 10 minute break and if you want to continue this discussion please open a appropriate discourse thread since this channel should stay low traffic.

In reply to @delroth:delroth.net
the foundation is not properly updating financials on opencollective so you're not seeing the whole financials
Just now starting to read the thread so responding to a few items:
This is on me, I have a full draft of the open financials but the last touches were delayed as I've been focusing most of my time on the sponsorship items
Unless something else comes up I plan to post it publicly this weekend
