i have seen lots of discussions about how to grant access to the channels to contain the spam attacks.
and a lot of opinions arise from the concerns about too low or to harsh rules for entry.

I would like to drop my 2 cents as well =)

• why not start easy and expand if needed
  -> evolutionary approach instead of fix in one step
  -> nixos wouldnt be here if it wasnt growing in an evolutionary way

• whats about a fail2ban like mechanism? couple of rules together build a score and result in ban.

1. uuuhm i don't want to press on a single point there. but i've seen ideas that make me wonder if that wouldnt delay an intermediate solution unnecessary.

but something like "press here to join" could be sufficient first step.
the next one would obviously be some kind of a Q/A - but I am afraid thats not worth the effort since thats solved waaay to easy with AI.
And I liked the ideas of linking it to existing accounts on github/discourse.

And another escalation of the filter could be: ---> and I would deeply embrace this one.

• granting access to the chat after a couple of threads on discourse are done. Maybe depending on If've been part of a discussion that has been set to "solved".

But I guess there is no need to fulfill the 100% in the first introduction.

In general I don't like too many people stirring the bowl, and now I am one of them. so I feel kinda sorry. :)
