I was wondering if a "Nix Radio" room would be a good idea. The main subject would be SDR and SDR related software inclusion in NixOS / nixpkgs, e.g. gnuradio, various gnuradio modules, drivers, and so on.
There is a networking room and it appears to be exclusive for routers. I don't know enough about either routers or radios, but if there is enough overlap, perhaps they can accommodate?

@qyliss:fairydust.spaceAlyssa RossI'm not sure the channel is supposed to be for routers only 14:35:35
@qyliss:fairydust.spaceAlyssa Rossthe topic was copied from IRC, where it was #nixos-on-your-router, but IIRC it was renamed to reflect that it had come to be about networking more broadly 14:36:01
@hexa:lossy.networkhexaIt is for networking (L2-L4) I'd say14:53:14
@hexa:lossy.networkhexamaybe even L7 (dns, avahi)14:53:27
@hexa:lossy.networkhexabut sdr is imo out of scope14:53:34

@nbathum:matrix.orgnbathum (he or they) colemickens 🏳️‍🌈: any favorites for learning more about matrix (as a user)? 20:28:47
@nbathum:matrix.orgnbathum (he or they)don't get me wrong, there is a certain thrill from reading a spec, but i just don't have that kind of time20:29:26
@colemickens:matrix.orgcolemickens 🏳️‍🌈I follow the "This Week In Matrix", sometimes watch the videos, mostly just skim the blog. It's a pretty good way to keep up to date, on clients, protocol changes, etc, without having to read the spec or follow GH.20:31:50
@colemickens:matrix.orgcolemickens 🏳️‍🌈It's how I know about various clients, or threading, or know about things like Cactus Comments. https://cactus.chat/20:32:14
@colemickens:matrix.orgcolemickens 🏳️‍🌈etc20:32:16
@kevincox:matrix.orgkevincoxIt also depends if you want to "keep up with with matrix" or just have some idea how to use it or some idea how it works.20:32:45

@mutantmell:helveticastandard.commutantmellYou could always just create an unofficial room, and if it ends up being popular maybe it can be adopted into the community?19:47:36
@mutantmell:helveticastandard.commutantmellOne of the nice things about Matrix is that, even if it starts on a different server, there's a mechanism for the nixos server to adopt channels into the nixos namespace, so it'll even look official :D19:51:31

No.
23:42:12
@sumner:sumnerevans.comsumnerThere are tools that can help you move your chats, though.23:42:22
@infinisil:matrix.orginfinisilDamn23:42:22
@sumner:sumnerevans.comsumnerThere's an MSC for portable profiles, but I think that is a ways out.23:42:45
