teutat3s | A reject invitation and report room button would be great... Element Web / Desktop has that feature since v1.11.98. | 15:41:01 |
@emma:rory.gay | synapse http antispam requires the latest draupnir beta | 15:41:24 |
teutat3s | Yeah, good point. | 15:41:35 |
@emma:rory.gay | but that assumes you run the server, which well, winter doesnt | 15:41:48 |
@emma:rory.gay | hence i linked MatrixAntiDmSpam, which doesnt require hs admin intervention :P | 15:42:05 |
| igor42 joined the room. | 16:07:06 |
igor42 | Hi, could I please get an invite to the new user channel? | 16:07:21 |
| Yorusaka Miyabi changed their display name from Yorusaka Miyabi [DO NOT DM] to Yorusaka Miyabi. | 16:25:57 |
teutat3s | In reply to @teutat3s:pub.solar If a policy room id (matrix ban list) is added to some module like Mjolnir's Synapse module or synapse-http-antispam, and the spamming account gets added to that ban list, that should make the homeserver that uses the module block the invites. To the interested reader: note that the mjolnir module does NOT work with synapse workers | 17:32:35 |

The synapse-http-antispam one does though. | 17:33:05 |
| oddlama changed their display name from Malte to oddlama. | 17:41:36 |
| @shaderoit99:matrix.org joined the room. | 21:02:26 |
uep | That still has to be done on every homeserver though. | 22:35:12 |
@emma:rory.gay | and this has to be done for individual users, community tooling can only go so far without having to patch the living hell out of server software, sadly | 22:37:49 |
@emma:rory.gay | something is better than nothing, after all | 22:38:03 |
uep | Totally agree. A feature in common clients would go a long way too | 22:59:21 |
@emma:rory.gay | that doesnt mean dismissing what's already out there as standalone tools, stuff in clients can only ever be generic | 23:00:38 |
@emma:rory.gay | though somehting like "disable invites" would be nice | 23:01:16 |
Zhaofeng Li | I think some mod should update the title in the old #users room (!RRerllqmbATpmbJgCn:nixos.org), maybe via the API | 23:52:16 |
Zhaofeng Li | People are still asking questions there | 23:52:39 |
uep | absolutely did not mean to dismiss any efforts, what i'm being critical of is the ecosystem in which heroic individual efforts are both necessary and the only efforts seemingly being made. | 23:54:50 |

@emma:rory.gay | im sorry for implying you were dismissing anything ^^' | 00:27:28 |
@emma:rory.gay | matrix.org is working on some stuff but its taking time (as per usual) | 00:28:04 |
uep | they clearly could do a lot more, even with minimal resources, just by directing focus. Sure, spec work takes time, but using what is already there. Find some client that has good features for this, and highlight it, encouraging other clients to do something similar. There's already an example with them suggesting to use client features to disable image previews. Make a list of steps like that for users to take, and which clients or servers facilitate them. | 03:35:10 |
uep | i assume they don't because it would just highlight the overall dire state | 03:35:32 |
uep | sigh. i suppose one would have to find a server on which that room is still active, and make an account there | 03:37:06 |
uep | i suspect none of the servers where mod accounts exist are in that set, so there's no way to do that | 03:38:08 |
uep | * i suspect none of the servers where mod accounts exist are in that set, so there's no way to do things with elevated TL | 03:38:22 |
Zhaofeng Li | I can still see the room in Element X. The dev tool still works in Element Desktop, despite the room being "moved":

Zhaofeng Li | you are still a mod from my view | 03:39:23 |
