jaen | Hello, how does it work if you'd like to suggest/request a room? I think with things like nix-njnja and sandstone appearing it could be useful to have a room dedicated to dynamic derivations and tools making advantage of them? Yes, I know it's bleeding edge, but I'm thinking of trying to apply that (via nix-ninja) to make Android builds not terrible and a place where you could talk about dynamic derivations specifically could be useful? Or do you think the nix room is enough for that? Or maybe I should I stead make a discourse thread/post to gauge interest? | 07:29:59 |

ari β | heh. just noticed that some matrix clients will render inline <img tags, even if limited only to images from their own homeserver | 19:11:55 |
ari β | if posting links works, this is how it works in cinny: https://ar.is-a.cat/c/ed4427edd71d69e6e99daafb35d116362c762bf0.png | 19:12:51 |
ari β | bonus points: it bypasses the media/url preview settings | 19:14:01 |
@emma:rory.gay | cinny issue | 19:26:54 |
@emma:rory.gay | inline image tags are supposed to render :)
not bypassing click to view though | 19:27:20 |
ari β | and fluffychat | 19:29:41 |
ari β | and i would be surprised if the list closed here | 19:30:03 |
ari β | element behaves interestingly. if showing images by-default is enabled, it will render inline images; if inline url previews are enabled, it will show links to the images; if neither of the options is enabled, it will render the message as if the img tags weren't there | 19:35:59 |
@emma:rory.gay | they should be rendered as hyperlinks to media i think | 19:39:23 |
| @emma:rory.gay changed their display name from Emma [it/its] but with extra displayname this time to Emma [it/its]. | 19:39:37 |

knc | I'm not able to rejoin #users:nixos.org via the link on Nix's website or the space homepage. I was able to do so yesterday, did something change? | 00:32:59 |
knc | I'm getting
Failed to join
MatrixError: [403] You are not invited to this room. (https://imagisphe.re/_matrix/client/v3/join/%23users%3Anixos.org)
| 00:33:11 |
@saiko:knifepoint.net | In reply to @knc:imagisphe.re I'm not able to rejoin #users:nixos.org via the link on Nix's website or the space homepage. I was able to do so yesterday, did something change? did you manage to join? i see you in the room but no join message (though that might be an element x moment)
either way i think itβs still set up so that you need to be in the nixos space first to be able to join
| 01:06:55 |
knc | I'm still in the user list right now? | 01:09:10 |
knc | And yes, I am in the NixOS space. I don't think I'd be able to talk here otherwise. | 01:09:35 |
@saiko:knifepoint.net | In reply to @knc:imagisphe.re I'm still in the user list right now? yeah. here at least | 01:09:52 |
@saiko:knifepoint.net | yeah not only on my side | 01:17:17 |
knc | I found some old bug reports on element's Github of something like this, but they're all marked as fixed so I don't really know what's going on. | 01:25:29 |
knc | https://github.com/element-hq/element-web/issues/7450 https://github.com/element-hq/element-web/issues/18737 | 01:25:55 |
knc | Clearing cache, relogging, switching devices, all don't help at all. | 01:26:42 |
@saiko:knifepoint.net | maybe someone who has the rights could try kicking you from the room | 01:28:22 |
knc | I just tried making another account on a different homesever and I get the same error when trying to join #users:nixos.org, so I don't think it has to do with that anymore. | 01:36:43 |
