maralorn | Has anyone else experienced that clicking links in element-desktop fails to find the running browser session and trys to open a new one? | 23:43:35 |
maralorn | It feels like some kind of sandboxing issue. | 23:43:47 |
maralorn | Huh, probably wrong channel, sorry. | 23:44:18 |

David Arnold | How does matrix discussion relate to discourse? With so many rooms, there is a lot of (good!) segmentation. But all in all ot also overlaps a bit woth discourse. | 04:24:45 |

David Arnold | Maybe it could be a good idea if we could map matrix room hierarchy to discourse topics? | 04:27:20 |
David Arnold | * Maybe it could be a good idea if we could map matrix room hierarchy to discourse topics? -- to present to people unified semantics | 04:27:49 |
David Arnold | And we maybe can clarify a little more what modes of discussion should go where... | 04:28:41 |
David Arnold | Like: discussion -> matrix / intermediate conclusions & outcomes -> discourse. | 04:29:07 |
David Arnold | Related, but I wrote it completely unaware of this room diversification and the dynamic here: https://discourse.nixos.org/t/discourse-per-thread-chat-rooms/13396 | 04:30:50 |
David Arnold | hexa Quick corrections must ne ok over in the other room, otherwise we get into hell's kitchen. 😆 | 13:27:28 |

hexa | The reason -suggestions is not for conversations is, that an admin needs to be able to go through the suggestions and implement them. If there is noise in between it makes it unneccessarily harder. | 13:27:37 |
David Arnold | I understand. | 13:28:15 |
David Arnold | An alternative could be argument here: "please remove there" | 13:28:32 |

David Arnold | Linux Hackerman did my reply actually resolve your suggestion? (In that case we can delete there) | 13:30:43 |

Las | Discourse could be built on top of Matrix TBH | 13:34:59 |
Las | Eventually, Discourse could be replaced by Hummingbard or Cerulean | 13:43:29 |
David Arnold | For the te being though, I imagine some sort of clarification what kind of content should go where. And maybe a mapping of discourse topics to matrix spaces.
That way, we can "discuss" here and "record" there. | 13:55:55 |
David Arnold | In effect discourse could potentially become a collection of "discussion outputs / aggregates". | 13:56:30 |
David Arnold | I'd find that useful, but no ide if it would turn out to be practical. | 13:56:52 |
David Arnold | * I'd find that useful, but no ide if it would turn out to be practical to do. | 13:57:00 |
sumner | I wonder if something like the TWIM bot would be useful here. Basically, there's a TWIM room that anyone can post to, but messages with @TWIM or reacted to with ⭕️ get forwarded to a separate updates room that someone pulls from to create the TWIM post for that week. Only a few users can post to the updates room, so all discussion is in the main TWIM room. This may be overkill for "Nix Matrix Suggestions/Discussions", however, I think it may be interesting to set up such a bot anyway. It may come in handy in other scenarios. | 14:05:33 |
