@palasso:matrix.org@palasso:matrix.org * Oh I get it. I see the space as a room. The notification was that I had one unread notification in a prior version. By clicking that I could access the previous version (which is the previous space). Re-joined old space. It didn't appear to have any notification but anyway after visiting it it stopped having a notification in the new space. I was able to leave the old space the same way I left previously. Now I have no more notifications in the new space and I am not anymore in the old space. Quite counter-intuitive from a user's perspective I must say 😄 10:17:14

@emma:rory.gayEmma [it/its] could someone fix the canonical parent space of #users:nixos.org? 21:11:46

21:11:58
@emma:rory.gayEmma [it/its]it still points to the old space21:12:13
@hexa:lossy.networkhexawhat is "the canonical parent space"23:33:11
@hexa:lossy.networkhexathe room is just in both spaces, why should one be canonical?23:33:26
@emma:rory.gayEmma [it/its]"canonical parent" is the room -> space relation23:33:47
@hexa:lossy.networkhexathat is what I figured23:34:06
@hexa:lossy.networkhexabut where is that relationship even defined?23:34:14
@hexa:lossy.networkhexaisn't the relationship space -> room?23:34:23
@cat:feline.supportCatRooms can list their parent by setting i think its m.space.parent or something as a state event. And this makes the relationship be recognised bidirectionally if the room is listed as a child by the space and the room lists the space as its parent. 23:34:29
@emma:rory.gayEmma [it/its] its m.space.parent with "canonical": true yes 23:34:43
@hexa:lossy.networkhexaok, very fancy23:34:51
@emma:rory.gayEmma [it/its]the relationship is 2 ways, can be useful23:35:10
@emma:rory.gayEmma [it/its]in the case of nheko, allows discovering a space from a room, etc etc23:36:31
@cat:feline.supportCatOne should remember that spaces are designed to solve like 3 or 4 primary use cases in a single system (That i know of) and therefore stuff like canonical relationships are needed due to the whole anybody can add any room to any space thing. 23:36:35
@hexa:lossy.networkhexahow about now?23:36:35
@hexa:lossy.networkhexaanyway, not great that one has to fiddle with room state23:39:19
@emma:rory.gayEmma [it/its]need to clear the old event out (or unset "canonical"?)23:39:21
