haysidney | Time to fiddle lol | 18:37:40 |
haysidney | Wow I feel like I've tried everything. I tried bluetooth, with the dongle, over usb. With and without launching through steam with steam input enabled. | 20:35:36 |
haysidney | Feeling like it's either wayland weirdness or XIVLauncher is just getting in the way somehow | 20:35:58 |
haysidney | The controller works with everything else I've tried | 20:36:09 |
haysidney | Just not FFXIV | 20:36:13 |
haysidney | Odd | 20:36:16 |
haysidney | Poking the maintainer of XIVLauncher for tips lol | 20:52:02 |

@supersamus02:matrix.org | The Itch app right now doesn't work. I made a PR to update it to its beta (which does work), and removes the beyond outdated electron_11 dependency. Could someone look at it? https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/248321 | 10:01:01 |

@tejing:matrix.org | Anyone else just restart steam and have it totally blow up their machine? The interface was scaling oddly, and steamwebhelper seemed to keep dying and being restarted, leaving behind zombie processes. Before long my system was near-unresponsive... took me a while to get a handle on it and even then an unrelated electron app never recovered for some reason. I had to kill -9 it, too. :-/ | 13:13:50 |
@tejing:matrix.org | coredumpctl shows a bunch of coredumps for steamwebhelper due to SIGILL | 13:17:11 |
@tejing:matrix.org | stack traces all show the problem occured many calls deep in /home/tejing/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_64/libcef.so | 13:21:30 |
@atemu12:matrix.org | tejing: I know that some steamwebhelpers crash in SteamVR too. That's "normal". | 14:06:15 |
@tejing:matrix.org | It's normal for steam to suddenly become unusable for no reason? This behavior is now consistent. It's impossible to interact with the gui as it just keeps crash-looping | 14:12:49 |
@atemu12:matrix.org | No, certainly not | 14:14:04 |
pedrohlc ⚡️ | did you check the stderr for the why it is crash-looping? | 14:14:11 |
pedrohlc ⚡️ | Redacted or Malformed Event | 14:14:25 |
pedrohlc ⚡️ | * , | 14:15:26 |
@tejing:matrix.org | I've checked logs in quite a bit of detail. the steamwebhelper processes are dying on SIGILL, which means they're trying to execute an illegal instruction (I've never actually seen that one before) | 14:15:18 |
@atemu12:matrix.org | I would not be surprising for it to start doing that sadly | 14:15:25 |
pedrohlc ⚡️ | In reply to @tejing:matrix.org I've checked logs in quite a bit of detail. the steamwebhelper processes are dying on SIGILL, which means they're trying to execute an illegal instruction (I've never actually seen that one before) try deleting .local/share/Steam/config/htmlcache/GPUCache | 14:16:37 |
@atemu12:matrix.org | The Q in "Valve" stands for "Quality assurance" | 14:16:46 |
pedrohlc ⚡️ | I'm having issues with "GPUCache"s in every CEF/Electron app, whenever I change Mesa version or between running said apps in X11, XWayland and Wayland | 14:17:47 |
pedrohlc ⚡️ | and this includes Steam (with crashes on boot), Spotify randomly not rendering, Element, Keybase, etc... | 14:18:11 |
