@elvishjerricco:matrix.org@elvishjerricco:matrix.orgoh, you plug the display into the iGPU? But the internet told me never to do that08:24:22
@k900:0upti.meK900I don't08:24:30
@k900:0upti.meK900It's a laptop08:24:32
@k900:0upti.meK900Hold on, I'll go reboot the big computer08:24:46
@elvishjerricco:matrix.org@elvishjerricco:matrix.org(coincidentally, I did actually try that earlier today, and games actually ran well on the big GPU even though the display was plugged into the iGPU; didn't do any kind of measurements though)08:30:34
@k900:0upti.meK900OK so that's interesting08:37:33
@k900:0upti.meK900I had to reboot an extra time to enable the integrated graphics08:37:46
@k900:0upti.meK900 But
amdgpu_device_initialize: amdgpu_query_info(ACCEL_WORKING) failed (-13)
amdgpu: amdgpu_device_initialize failed.

@k900:0upti.meK900So it's failing to probe something, but it's also successfully probing both GPUs08:38:12
@vengmark2:matrix.orgl0b0I tried rebooting again, but I'm not having any more luck.08:42:03
@vengmark2:matrix.orgl0b0 This is my base config, in case there's anything interesting. The machine-specific settings are all in a separate repo. 08:44:22
@elvishjerricco:matrix.org@elvishjerricco:matrix.org Well, I decided to hop into windows to see how bg3 performs by comparison. It needs a 35G update, and says I don't have the space for it. And "steam -> settings -> storage" says 149G is used by games, 120G by "updates", 103G by "other", and 92G free. 08:52:14
@elvishjerricco:matrix.org@elvishjerricco:matrix.orgAnd of course once I say that, now it's happy to try to do the update08:52:44
@elvishjerricco:matrix.org@elvishjerricco:matrix.org l0b0: FWIW, GN's testing for BG3 only gets a bit over 50fps with the 7700XT at 4K: https://youtu.be/AAjQXdwkgEE?t=464&si=iXrn_FEdIf6_F1-2 08:57:10
@elvishjerricco:matrix.org@elvishjerricco:matrix.orgAnd of course they're on windows08:57:18
@vengmark2:matrix.orgl0b0It seems the problem is it's not using the GPU at all, which makes 40 FPS pretty damn good. I assume fixing the GPU initialisation will result in 100+ FPS at this point.09:00:14
@k900:0upti.meK900It won't09:00:42
@k900:0upti.meK900If you're getting 40FPS at 4K on BG3, it's definitely rendering in hardware09:01:03
@k900:0upti.meK900And your GPU just can't push that many pixels09:01:09
