Pol | raboof Julien The Reproducible-Build monthly report is currently in draft, perhaps it would be nice to add a few words about that in it, WDYT ? | 10:21:25 |

raboof | I plan to do a reproduction of the 25.11 minimal iso, avoiding the binary cache as much as possible - but https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/468139 means it'll likely take a 25.11 staging cycle before I can... | 15:18:20 |

raboof | https://blog.josefsson.org/2025/12/07/reproducible-guix-container-images/ was interesting. It's not quite clear to me whether they mean 'from source' reproducibility or that they rely on their binary cache while building the container images, though? | 10:07:48 |

raboof | I successfully reproduced the 25.11 minimal installation ISO avoiding the binary cache again: https://discourse.nixos.org/t/nixos-reproducible-builds-minimal-installation-iso-successfully-independently-rebuilt/34756/13 | 10:18:31 |

josw | @raboof:matrix.org: You write about extending the infrastructure, do you have someting in mind?
What would be needed in specs? | 21:15:54 |
raboof | josw: good question! I'm thinking 'infrastructure' not just in hardware but also in 'supporting software' ;) - but yeah it'd make sense to have a server somewhere to run rebuilds on. Doesn't need to be some kind of beast to start being useful; I think we could get quite some mileage out of pretty much anything even if it can't the big builds such as browsers and kernels, though ofc having plenty of disk space and memory helps. I'd also like to see it be easy for people to put to use spare capacity on their existing machines. | 22:31:13 |
dish [Fox/It/She] | I was gonna say, if that's an option I wouldn't mind giving a few threads to the cause | 22:33:13 |
Atemu | Is it possible/would it be useful to manually trigger fresh rebuilds on our own hardware every month or so and upload the results somewhere? I wouldn't mind letting my gaming rig churn on some builds for a few hours each month while I'm not using it. | 23:44:44 |

raboof | yes, that's very much the goal of https://reproducibility.nixos.social / https://github.com/nix-community/lila - it's still a bit fiddly/poorly-documented, but if you're feeling adventurous send me a private message - I'll create a token and walk you through how to set things up! | 08:54:35 |
Sandro 🐧 | I wanted to help with that a long time ago but never got to it :( | 15:43:55 |
Julien | your token is still active afaik Sandro 🐧 | 15:47:30 |
