@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkBut this can be the case with HA. But it is not the same service.00:26:43
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkIn my case I propose to provide a machine and this for free to help. The hosting cost is 25€ per server. Since we have a dedicated 10 Gb line. These are mainly costs for electricity more than anything else. For my part I am only proposing if it can help.00:29:06

@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodark For my part, it was during a discussion with Gaétan Lepage that I heard about a need for a builder.
Hence the fact that I came to offer my help on the subject.

@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodark* Yep KVM & IPMI are not available.00:31:32

@purepani:matrix.orgpurepani ~~just for clarity i was not accusing you of being malicious haha~~ 00:36:35

@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkNo worries I totally agree with what you say and I understand your concern. But my concern is a drop in the quality of contributors because they would not have the adequate tools to work. 00:37:54
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilydid you say you might be able to make AArch64 happen? I think a replacement Ampere box would definitely be the most helpful thing for contributors right now00:39:54
@emilazy:matrix.orgemily one because 80 cores is just really convenient for testing out very large builds (I preferred it over the x86 box for this reason), but also because few people have aarch64-linux hardware powerful enough to do substantial builds at all 00:40:22
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilywe're already seeing e.g. not being able to test the Firefox build on AArch64 because the community builder is gone00:40:38
@emilazy:matrix.orgemily that's quite painful as aarch64-linux is our second best supported platform after x86_64-linux currently 00:40:54
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkIt's actually in my pipeline. But these are very expensive servers.00:41:02
@emilazy:matrix.orgemily(and increasingly commonly deployed in the cloud etc.)00:41:06
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyyeah :(00:41:08
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkUnfortunately I also do with the means I have at my disposal. I think that to help on this I need a little time to negotiate this point. I have noted that this was important for you. But I try to respond to the needs 1 by 1. The first being equinix.00:42:53
@emilazy:matrix.orgemily FWIW Equinix also provided the community/ofborg AArch64 builders, so I think we currently have no plan for aarch64-linux pre-merge CI too 00:43:53
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilybut yeah that's the hardest thing to solve of course00:43:59
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkIndeed, it was also indicated to me.00:44:58
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkAnd I agree with you that this is not easy to resolve but not impossible. I have some ideas for this.00:45:41
@zowoq:matrix.orgzowoqUpgrading the x86 build box to an epyc 9454p would be nice.00:49:03
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyI'm always in favour of more cores :)00:49:18
@emilazy:matrix.orgemily but I also like testing on aarch64-linux because ~everything already gets built on x86_64-linux during development 00:49:33
@zowoq:matrix.orgzowoqWhere would this machine be located? Who covers the hosting cost?01:05:57
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkI propose the machine. It is hosted at tetaneutral.01:07:40
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkThose who can, my contribution is on the hardware and support part for hosting as I do for other services or associations.01:08:58
@liberodark:matrix.orgliberodarkThis reduces your costs compared to Hetzner, for example.01:11:56
