raitobezarius | Mic92: how do you avoid in buildbot-nix the fact that GC may remove the .drv after a nix-eval and cause the nix-build to fail? | 14:59:01 |
Mic92 | raitobezarius: nix-eval-jobs creates gcroots for drv files | 15:01:42 |
raitobezarius | mmmm right | 15:05:14 |
raitobezarius | thanks Mic92 ! | 15:13:21 |

@jade_:matrix.org | In reply to @jade_:matrix.org hiya, I'm contemplating offering https://github.com/lf-/flakey-profile as a nix-community project. It is somewhat of an odd inclusion since it is an absolutely tiny project that doesn't really require maintenance, but I want to offer it so it is easier to, say, recommend on nix.dev as a solution to profiles with a relatively stable home. Mic92: gentle poke about this proposal | 17:50:22 |

zowoq | We've switched darwin-build-box.nix-community.org to another mac mini that has the /nix/store on a 2TB disk. Previously everything had to fit on a 256GB disk so GC and performance was a bit of an issue. | 08:01:53 |

tomberek | I know it's a hard answer to articulate. Why do you love it? How did you go from that initial motivation to the current glee? | 19:13:18 |
Vanessa | In reply to @tomberek:matrix.org I know it's a hard answer to articulate. Why do you love it? How did you go from that initial motivation to the current glee? atomic distros have always interested me, i like having the stability of atomic updates, nixos has that which is nice, and the idea of portability that nixos provides is also nice
honestly the stuff i heard about it made me interested in it, i heard about how it has atomic updates and how its declarative and stuff, i think it's a really solid idea, and also the large package repository is also really nice | 19:16:45 |
Vanessa | replacing web browsers in the config file was as easy as deleting the firefox line and adding ungoogled-chromiun | 19:17:28 |
