@vika:matrix.nice.sampler.fivika (she/her) 🏳️‍⚧️And I've seen an official manual for their protocol so they care about DIY segment somewhat21:31:15
@colemickens:matrix.orgcolemickens 🏳️‍🌈I have also been disappointed to see HA seem to embrace "productization" and point-and-click statefulness over what I perceived to be a simpler declarative static model when I first adopted it.21:31:11
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networksmart home to me also means metrics, and automation based on these metrics21:31:24
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkand a common interface to same-in-class devices of different vendors21:31:52
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkthe move to statefullness of home-assistant also has me slightly worried, I started using home-assistant way back with v0.21, and back then yaml was king21:33:05

I would really like to move away from Hass really, I don't use super many integrations really... I could probably build something similar buy depending on the same libraries...
21:39:05
@etu:semi.social@etu:semi.socialBut currently I'm very preoccupied with family things21:39:29

smart home to me also means metrics, and automation based on these metrics
metrics could probably be collected with a separate component, I don't think it's impossible to fit in the model I described
21:40:02
@etu:semi.social@etu:semi.socialMetrics doesn't have to be built in, if current state of things are exposed, another component can scrape that to build metrics21:41:24
@etu:semi.social@etu:semi.socialThen things can check the metrics component to fire events21:41:47
@robert:funklause.dedotlambdaHow do I mark Home Assistant component tests as online only? Is that something upstream does at all?22:34:59
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkI thought about adding pytest.mark.network upstream, if they're interested22:36:28
@robert:funklause.dedotlambdaBut you didn't try it yet?22:36:55
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkno, I did not22:37:10
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkthis is the kind of thing we need social capital for 🤔22:37:47
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkbecause it is working for them already22:38:00
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkno added value22:38:07
@robert:funklause.dedotlambdaAnd what about having a big patch just for us that adds these marks everywhere?22:40:16
@robert:funklause.dedotlambdaI guess we should try upstreaming them first.22:40:27
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networktesting them downstream, making sure they're working well, then upstream22:40:48
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkmake the process painless22:40:53
@robert:funklause.dedotlambda I'm not too invested but if you make a PR upstream, feel free to add test_form_invalid_auth and test_form_cannot_connect from wallbox's tests. 22:43:33

@zhaofeng:zhaofeng.liZhaofeng LiActually, someone should DM balloob/home_assistant to let them know about the HN thread. I think it's only fair and they don't seem to be aware.01:11:30
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkI would be surprised if they hadn't discussed that internally yet01:13:06
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkpretty sure that is what turned the reaction around01:13:47

@joerg:bethselamin.deMic92 (Old)I won't do anything right now in this matter over the couple next week. I have other priorities right now.07:05:09
