In reply to @continous:matrix.org
I guess I'm just confused as to what this would do over just...a media player? I don't see the application I guess.
The purpose of music-assistant is to have one big shared library
19:32:05
@k900:0upti.meK900It doesn't have to be on the same computer 19:32:11
@continous:matrix.orgcontinousOk, so this just provides access to the stream a la DLNA?19:32:08
@continous:matrix.orgcontinous Maybe I just don't see why you'd want it in Home-assistant. 19:32:33
@k900:0upti.meK900 It's not in home-assistant 19:32:50
@k900:0upti.meK900 It's in music-assistant 19:32:54
@adam:robins.wtf@adam:robins.wtfmusic-assistant is a standalone program19:32:55
@k900:0upti.meK900Which is a separate thing19:33:01
@continous:matrix.orgcontinousOh I'm silly.19:33:03
@continous:matrix.orgcontinousI'll look into it then, Jelly-fin is kind of garbage with music.19:33:27
@adam:robins.wtf@adam:robins.wtfhttps://www.music-assistant.io/19:33:31
@continous:matrix.orgcontinous* I'll look into it then, Jellyfin is kind of garbage with music.19:33:35
@k900:0upti.meK900It's not great IMO 19:34:23
@k900:0upti.meK900The major selling point is the HA integration 19:34:32
@k900:0upti.meK900But I don't have any speakers that are controllable through HA so it's just kinda whatever 19:34:48
@continous:matrix.orgcontinousDarn, there's really no great options it seems.19:35:55
@continous:matrix.orgcontinousIt seems very middle-man-ey19:36:29
@adam:robins.wtf@adam:robins.wtfwhen i tried it a while back I didn't find it an improvement over my existing slimserver setup19:48:50
@adam:robins.wtf@adam:robins.wtfi mean not-perl is a positive i guess, but i already paid that cost and it's quite stable/reliable :)19:49:21
@k900:0upti.meK900 ...I just use Spotify 19:52:14
@continous:matrix.orgcontinousThere are quite a few more obscure tracks I'd like ready access to that no one really carried. Maybe Youtube music? 🤮20:04:41
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkI'm personally stuck with navidrome for its subsonic API21:46:36
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.networkI want to be able to stream from my phone 21:47:11
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.network* I want to be able to stream the collection from my phone 21:47:23
@hexa:lossy.network@hexa:lossy.network* I want to be able to stream the collection to my phone 21:47:29
@continous:matrix.orgcontinousYeah my usecase is identical. I want to playback music on my phone, have synced playlists, and not have to worry about whatever licensing terms the relevant music service might have. To say nothing of how some tracks do get edited or taken down after the fact. See Black Eyed Pea's Get it Started.22:39:54

@robert:funklause.dedotlambdaSo I think HA requires hassil==2.2.3 but it also requires home-assistant-intents==2025.3.28, which it turn implicitly requires hassil==3.0.004:19:06
@robert:funklause.dedotlambdaDoes anyone use the conversation component? I seriously have no idea how I could fix this04:22:22
