@jamie:memes.nzJamieso while it succeeds for me, idk if i'm actually testing something different06:59:38
@jamie:memes.nzJamiehm yeah there's some evaluation impurity i guess? it matches if i evaluate it from /nix/store/v316zxg1w7x8343xs9lmhkh5hvjmprsq-source07:02:26
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát .git/ or something? Most likely no significant difference. I've been reproducing tests like this for years. 07:03:39
@jamie:memes.nzJamiecool repro with the matching hash succeeded07:03:56
@jamie:memes.nzJamieyeah i suppose so07:03:59
@jamie:memes.nzJamieyay and it succeeded on hydra07:04:31
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátYes, both tests succeeded now.07:04:42
@jamie:memes.nzJamienow for chromuium :D07:04:54
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátYes, that will be several hours at least, I'm afraid.07:05:12
@jamie:memes.nzJamiei wonder if my local chromium build on my desktop will beat it07:05:26
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátYes, that's not so hard. The machine is doing multiple large builds at once, and it's a rather old server.07:06:31
@jamie:memes.nzJamieyeah:(07:06:49
@jamie:memes.nzJamieand when you write your software with the intention of building it on the distributed compilation infrastructure of google... :P07:08:09
@ncfavier:matrix.orgnfcan someone walk me through why most of the builds of ungoogled-chromium have 1s build times, despite the hashes being different each time?11:28:58
@ncfavier:matrix.orgnfnever mind, i'm getting there11:41:25
@ncfavier:matrix.orgnfif anyone here has write access to nixos-search, please approve/merge https://github.com/NixOS/nixos-search/pull/33019:17:39
@andi:kack.itandi- try in #marketing:nixos.org and/or @garbas:matrix.org 19:27:35
@lukegb:zxcvbnm.ninjalukegb (he/him)Can we add bigger-parallel to make chromium builds faster :P19:29:21
@lukegb:zxcvbnm.ninjalukegb (he/him)(or remove big-parallel from wendy, I guess, but that's less funny)19:29:30

(or remove big-parallel from wendy, I guess, but that's less funny)
yes please :)
19:33:03
@andi:kack.itandi-Didn't that happen already and was reverted?19:38:52
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátWendy was removed for a time. Then there was a bug resulting we had no big-parallel machine in the farm, so as a quick fixup in the meantime wendy was brought back... and so far it's stayed :-)20:28:59
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát(even though that bug was resolved quite quickly afterwards)20:29:19
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát * Wendy was removed for a time. Then there was a bug resulting we had no big-parallel machine in the farm (for x86_64-linux), so as a quick fixup in the meantime wendy was brought back... and so far it's stayed :-)20:35:15
@sandro:supersandro.deSandrothat means we can remove it again?20:46:47
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát AFAIK it can be removed, as we do have others with the required features, but it maybe provides a noticeable part of the overall power. 21:22:06

@rgrunbla:matrix.orgReventlov joined the room.07:18:55
@sandro:supersandro.deSandrohow long do we wait extra when chromium lands on wendy again? half a day?08:30:24
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátThose latest builds on wendy were taking roughly one day. (though it surely depends on circumstances) The "wait extra" might only really apply when Hydra is relatively idle.08:52:34
@sandro:supersandro.deSandroI meant this more like how much longer it takes to build chromium on wendy compared to some of the newer servers08:53:09
