infinisil | What I'd like to see in the future is everybody having a <githubUser>@member.nixos.org email address, with some criteria for getting one of those | 20:31:00 |
hexa | we should really roll our own IDM before we go for such a thing | 20:32:12 |
Emma [it/its] | so, i change my github username, what now? | 20:33:32 |
infinisil | I guess we would want to alias then | 20:34:03 |
infinisil | <githubId>@member.nixos.org is more stable but less usable :P | 20:34:31 |
Emma [it/its] | and even then, in the end i'd just end up never reading those emails most likely lol | 20:35:17 |
Emma [it/its] | if it forwards to my regular email, sure | 20:35:39 |
emily | email provider isn't a fun game to be in, you end up in the critical path of people's accounts etc. | 20:36:41 |
emily | and people expect addresses to live forever | 20:36:48 |
hexa | though this one only needs to last as long as the project is alive 😛 | 20:37:17 |
emily | and deliverability issues on both ends, etc. (applies even for project accounts too but at least the support burden is limited there) | 20:37:28 |
hexa | tbh, I'd prefer actual login accounts to the forwarding situation we are now in | 20:37:52 |
hexa | (or that we are now slowly moving away from towards freescout) | 20:38:19 |
infinisil | Can recommend so far | 20:41:12 |

VladimÃr ÄŒunát | No idea why this got stuck. | 12:43:16 |

sterni (he/him) | Recently I've been seeing a lot of this failure in haskell packages which seems to be flaky. Wonder why this has started happening.

infinisil | Foundation got an email that our scaleway account will be deleted in 30 days since it's been inactive for 2 years. I don't know about the context of it being used, but if we haven't been using it for 2 years it should be fine to have it be deleted | 09:29:34 |
VladimÃr ÄŒunát | Wasn't that just for nix-community instead of the official infra? | 09:42:53 |
Rob Vermaas (he/him) | Looks like it was created around July 13 2021 by Eelco | 09:59:14 |

nh2 | Should only happen when something is doing open(..., "w") on the Setup binary while it's running. I don't see why Cabal itself should do that (without external concurrency).
Extra suspicious is that there is an empty line at line 1765 in that file. So far I found that errors in such stdenv-linux/setup lines are always bogus, somebody should find out why that is, or what program prints that line ... output, because it's apparently wrong.
| 13:09:50 |
toonn | Aren't those lines including sourced files? So it's actually non-trivial to figure out what line it's actually referring to? | 13:14:46 |
nh2 | Ah, that's annoying | 18:55:57 |
