leona | I have a weird problem with accessing hydra.nixos.org on iOS devices. When I open hydra.nixos.org, it defaults to https://hydra.nixos.org/, there I get the Anubis Loading Screen and a redirect to (e.g.) https://hydra.nixos.org/.within.website/x/cmd/anubis/api/pass-challenge?challenge=2debdc30b320a73ef1cc214abe24cc8be1b1954d249a18fee224debd8e44b2e804355365e28d9225c659d643491a61870a2af4fdfe5aee98a9d6383a8172566f&id=019af96a-aa82-7cce-9b14-5d463e2bae9f&redir=%2F The response on this page is the NixOS branded "HTTP Error 502" page. Everything works when I explicitly access https://hydra.nixos.org (without the trailing slash). I unfortunately cannot reproduce this on my NixOS devices as I seem to have modern enough browsers to not even get a anubis screen | 15:31:59 |
Arian | Do you have Apple’s VPN thing enabled? | 15:43:46 |
Arian | iCloud Private Relay | 15:44:03 |
Arian | I dont understand why it would break; but it could explain the difference between your iOS device and your NixOS device | 15:44:41 |
leona | No, I don’t have | 15:47:36 |
leona | I think it’s mostly because I use Firefox for iOS which probably sends a strange user agent | 15:49:16 |
hexa (signing key rotation when) | isn't Firefox on iOS a webkit anyway? | 17:06:28 |
hexa (signing key rotation when) | or has that changed already? | 17:06:34 |
leona | It is. It advertises itself as Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/18.6 Safari/605.1.15 | 17:12:32 |
emily | I think that's identical to the iOS Safari user agent | 17:44:48 |
emily | (a shame, because a "sega playstation" user agent would be very funny) | 17:45:17 |
emily | could still mean that if it behaves weirdly or identifies itself as Firefox in some way in JavaScript then Anubis thinks something is up ofc | 17:45:31 |
emily | oh, actually apparently they only switched to spoofing as macOS in iOS 26 (?) – so perhaps Firefox is making that happen and Anubis is raising its eyebrow about something relating to that | 17:46:42 |
emily | FWIW I had quite some issues with passing Anubis challenges on my Pixel 8 with Chrome not long ago, I was unable to look at Hydra on my phone which is probably for the best | 17:47:26 |
leona | oh, that's a ipad (m1), not a macbook | 17:49:43 |
dish [Fox/It/She] | was that maybe because of the odd core count issue they had? | 18:25:26 |
dish [Fox/It/She] | which is fixed in 1.22.0+ | 18:26:33 |
dish [Fox/It/She] | * was that maybe because of the odd core count issue they had?(answer: probably yes, pixel 8s all have 9 cores which had errors with anubis since its odd) | 18:28:14 |
