@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornIf we sync the timing of the jobs do we really knew to do the merge base thing?20:51:50
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)yes. the merge from master to staging-next or from staging-next to staging might fail while the merge from master to haskell-updates succeeds21:32:18

Yeah, that's what I thought.

@maralorn:maralorn.demaralorn @sternenseemann:systemli.org Oh, damn. Stackage bump to 9.8 is incoming. 09:32:52
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornPossibly already today.09:33:31

@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him) maralorn: I was thinking we should switch in the next iteration anyways 12:43:31
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)although I'm wondering if it's worth bumping one more time on the current LTS directly12:43:43

maralorn: I was thinking we should switch in the next iteration anyways
Huh, why?
12:44:06
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)queue is under 100k builds maybe we can reenable the jobset again soon :|12:44:10

Yeah, thought so too.
12:44:15
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him)I mean we were talking about switching to nightly anyways?12:44:23
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornYeah, true.12:44:42

@tomodachi94:matrix.org@tomodachi94:matrix.orgIs it possible to remove a package from haskellPackages? If so, when is it appropriate to do so?02:05:32
@tomodachi94:matrix.org@tomodachi94:matrix.org Context: the haskellPackages.opentracing* packages are deprecated by upstream: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/261927 02:06:53
@tomodachi94:matrix.org@tomodachi94:matrix.org* Is it possible to remove a package from haskellPackages? If so, when is it appropriate to do so (same as any package? Something different)?02:30:37
@tomodachi94:matrix.org@tomodachi94:matrix.org Context: I'm trying to remove all of the haskellPackages.opentracing* packages (OpenTracing is deprecated afaict): https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/261927 03:29:01
@tomodachi94:matrix.org@tomodachi94:matrix.orgOn second thought, some of those packages might still be maintained?05:37:30

No, not really. We can mark them broken, insecure or unsupported but removal is currently not on the menu.
10:13:08
@maralorn:maralorn.demaralornWhat problem are you trying to solve? There are thousands of unmaintained/deprecated packages on hackage.10:14:38
@sternenseemann:systemli.orgsterni (he/him) maralorn: I've PR-ed the second bump, it evals fine, compilation is untested though 20:16:15

Possibly already today.
Indeed, it came out
22:53:29
@alexfmpe:matrix.orgalexfmpeI guess the next cycle here is LTS 23?22:53:51
