@jonhermansen:matrix.orgjonhermansenNix should probably throw an error.01:50:26
@jonhermansen:matrix.orgjonhermansenContent-Encoding: None makes no sense.01:50:35
@dramforever:matrix.orgdramforeverthrow a better error01:50:35
@jonhermansen:matrix.orgjonhermansen* Content-Encoding: None makes no sense from the server and it can be surfaced to the user01:51:06
@dramforever:matrix.orgdramforeverhonestly having a "error while processing http request" would be helpful enough01:51:12

@dramforever:matrix.orgdramforeverprobably not03:11:48
@dramforever:matrix.orgdramforever given that the encoding was there before 03:11:59

does it happen on Lix?
IIRC libarchive is used to support more compression algorithms like bz2, which are not natively supported by curl. IFAIK lix did away with encodings not supported by curl. I wonder how libcurl handles such situations under the hood when using built-in support for decompression.

can you see verbose curl info when running Nix?
-vvvvv (I think the level there is vomit) also makes libcurl output headers and other debug info.

@jade_:matrix.orgjade_yeah. lix has plausibly had more refactoring of the http client because it was previously doing standards noncompliant stuff03:44:30

@jollywater:matrix.org@jollywater:matrix.organy plans or current development in rust for Nix/NixOS?01:12:32
@k900:0upti.meK900Nix itself not much, Lix folks are exploring some things06:17:24
@k900:0upti.meK900NixOS has a bunch of Rust yes06:17:28
@jollywater:matrix.org@jollywater:matrix.orgnice to see rust being implemented in the OS itself, ill have to go look over the github07:46:44
@k900:0upti.meK900Most of the Rust code is in nixpkgs itself07:48:10
@k900:0upti.meK900e.g. switch-to-configuration-ng07:48:18
@k900:0upti.meK900And a bunch more tooling07:48:24
@jollywater:matrix.org@jollywater:matrix.orggit only shows 0.2% Rust07:48:47
@k900:0upti.meK900Well yes, because the repo is overwhelmingly Nix07:49:19
@jollywater:matrix.org@jollywater:matrix.orgI know thats not a good metric though, yall make it a priority to code new tools in rust?07:49:25
@k900:0upti.meK900No07:49:29
@k900:0upti.meK900There is no such policy07:49:35
@k900:0upti.meK900Generally those kinds of decisions are made on a case by case basis07:49:53
@jollywater:matrix.org@jollywater:matrix.orgnot policy persay but strong focus or interest from contributors07:49:57
@k900:0upti.meK900I don't think so, really07:50:10
