@shalokshalom:kde.org | Hi there 🙂
The generic ISO profile does currently contain GParted. That means, it is included on the KDE ISO as well. The plan is, to move GParted to your GNOME profile, so that the KDE ISO can be shipped with the KDE Partition Manager then.
I dont want to mess up your repo, or send you a PR without communicating that first. Do you agree to that plan and where do you want to put GParted, if yes? | 13:23:41 |

I dont want to mess up your repo, or send you a PR without communicating that first. Do you agree to that plan and where do you want to put GParted, if yes? I guess, but wouldn't removing gparted from the base graphical image have the downside of the base graphical image being less useful? That seems like the bigger downside | 20:04:24 |
@maxeaubrey:matrix.org | And so I'm not sure that's as much a question for here as it is for whichever team owns graphical images as a whole? | 20:06:02 |
@maxeaubrey:matrix.org | (if such a team exists, I have no clue) | 20:06:49 |
@shalokshalom:kde.org | I am not so familiar with the ISO building process. To my knowledge, there are only two ISOs, one Gnome and one KDE. And when we remove it from the base image, it just goes to the Gnome specific profile | 20:25:02 |
@shalokshalom:kde.org | Who would miss it? | 20:25:17 |
@maxeaubrey:matrix.org | I'm pretty sure I've built myself a rescue image from just the base forever ago. Regardless, gparted isn't part of gnome, and I'd hazard a guess that it's mostly included in the base config as a "power user" graphical tool. gnome-disk-utility is the equivalent of kde partition manager. I'd try to find the rather place to have this discussion via #dev:nixos.org /discourse, or by just opening a PR and requesting feedback on the change. | 20:48:47 |

K900 | I killed the GNOME jobset on Hydra for a bit | 08:25:06 |
K900 | There's a lot of weird looking failures already if anyone wants to take a look | 08:25:25 |
K900 | And unstable is stuck in scheduling heck | 08:25:43 |
@maxeaubrey:matrix.org | K900 ⚡️: how can I find the "weird looking" failures? Not clear what to look for from the hydra eval page | 08:30:37 |
K900 | https://hydra.nixos.org/eval/1805401#tabs-now-fail | 08:32:19 |
K900 | Unfortunately not really a good way to filter it down to root failures :( | 08:32:51 |
@maxeaubrey:matrix.org | Aah, what I was looking at. Cool, I'll try to look for something in there tonight, and hope someone beats me to it | 08:35:13 |
@maxeaubrey:matrix.org | Thanks | 08:35:15 |

Thatoo | After a week, I'm starting to have a nixos gnome working nicely, I'm happy.
Just some issue due to wayland like screensharing with Element and autotype in keepassxc but that's due to Wayland and I'm confident it will be solve some day soon, wayland being more and more used by default. | 09:13:15 |
Thatoo | Just one weird behavior remain, notification from Element desktop don't display.
I got the sound notification and Element icon shows me there is a notification but it doesn't display as if I was in "don't disturb" mode except I'm note and it doesn't appear in notification center neither (which it should even though I would be in "don't disturb" mode). | 09:15:43 |
Thatoo | And it's not linked to wayland as I face the same issue if I try on Gnome on X11 | 09:16:26 |
Thatoo | Have you heard of it? | 09:16:29 |
Thatoo | Is it specific to Element desktop app of to Electron apps? | 09:16:59 |
Thatoo | I can't find any issue open about element app or electron app and notification issue on https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs | 09:18:46 |
Thatoo | Otherwies notifications are working perfectly fine with Firefox and Thunderbird for example | 09:19:48 |
