In reply to @hmenke:matrix.org
I just updated from nixos-20.09 to nixos-21.05 and now I'm experiencing horrible input lags with GNOME 40 on Wayland. There is often a noticeable delay between keypresses and characters appearing on screen (still < 1 s though) and when I move the mouse it often jumps. However, monitoring dmesg -w and journalctl -f doesn't show anything abnormal.
Is anybody else experiencing input lag or has any idea how to debug this?

@hmenke:matrix.orghmenkeDoes anybody have any advice on how to deal with this? It's absolutely infuriating with the constant misclicks and loads of typos, completely tanking the productivity. 18:29:46
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnaryou could try syprof20:34:48
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar * you could try sysprof20:34:54

@jonge:ukvly.orgjongehi, i just updated to nixos 21.05 and it's amazing, but the 3-finger-touchpad-gestures don't work for workplace switching. `services.xserver.libinput.enable` is activated. where to look else why it's not working?20:37:31
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar * hmenke: you could try sysprof 20:38:13
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar * hmenke: you could try sysprof, but not sure about any concrete ideas 20:38:47
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnardoes your touchpad support it?20:39:17
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan TojnarI can only say it worked for me out of the box20:39:56
@jonge:ukvly.orgjongeOk, its a relatively new lenovo thinkpad x13 yoga. Although i never ran anything else than nixos in it, so i have not *seen* multifinger support working on it20:42:31
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan TojnarI would expect multifinger to work on anything relatively new20:49:57
@ryantm:matrix.orgryantm hmenke: What kind of GPU do you have? 20:56:19
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegameshttps://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/125363 can somebody please help me a bit on this one? I haven't seriously worked with that GJS thing yet and I'm a bit overwhealmed.21:42:56
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegamesI tried looking at other extensions, but every one seems to have their own special soup for solving their version of the problem so this is no help.21:43:29
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar piegames: there are two problems 21:49:34
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarone will be solved by the inputs21:49:46
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarand the other by the stuff linked in the manual21:50:07
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar * piegames: there are two problems (that I know of) 21:51:05
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegamesOkay, I'll give it a try. Should I add a manual packaging for the extension or should I create some space to place overrides on the automatic ones?21:53:56
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar hexa: did you try to PM me? the chat does not seem to work 21:54:12
@hexa:lossy.networkhexayes, I did21:54:27
@hexa:lossy.networkhexapolkit fun21:54:30
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegamesI'm dreaming of a list of "These extensions need X and those need Y" and the builder automatically adapts to that, but for what I've seen so far it won't be easy.21:54:44
