@uep:matrix.orguep46 seems to be working well, other than breaking the pop-shell extension (no tiling is doing my head in, aaargh!)23:50:10

Hey, posting here for visability:
https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/300634

This bug really drove me crazy fixing my windows all the time - would be cool if it gets merged/backported before v46 relesed on nixos

How soon is a merge planned?

@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)Good question. We have to at minimum wait until the next staging-next cycle IMO, but maybe we should land 46 via staging anyway - 24.05 is still far enough away.09:32:49
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)Basically besides libjxl support being a blocker (and currently existing in staging), I think there's no other problems right now. Still need to write release notes too, I suppose.09:33:59

@ygt:matrix.orgnadirTha's great to hear. Thank you for all your effort!19:46:37
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them) Somewhat pertinent question I guess to merging 46 and requesting people test this - where do I request a hydra jobset be added for the gnome branch? cc Jan Tojnar since I figure you definitely know 22:28:38

I can at least help with release notes

@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)Thanks! All help is welcome. There are some notes in the PR description as to what should be mentioned23:27:14

If you log in into hydra, you can check if you have restart-jobs and cancel-build permissions in Preferences
23:49:25
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarto run the builds, we will need to change the branch name first in https://hydra.nixos.org/jobset/nixpkgs/gnome#tabs-configuration23:49:48
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar (we have used gnome branch for past few PRs so that we do not have to change) 23:50:31
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them) Ah, that's a shame on my part then, didn't think about that when pushing gnome-46. I do not have (any) permissions, unfortunately. 23:51:54
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan TojnarI usually asked in #dev:nixos.org, but I think #infra:nixos.org might be a better place nowadays23:52:17
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)Thanks for the explainer. I'll ask in #infra about getting the permissions to do this.23:53:48

@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnaroh, and also it is good idea to coordinate the evals with Vladimír or whoever is driving staging-next so that we do not overburden the builders00:03:19
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)Ack, good point. Will ask in #staging before doing anything00:04:35

@shalokshalom:kde.org@shalokshalom:kde.orgHi there 🙂 The generic ISO profile does currently contain GParted. That means, it is included on the KDE ISO as well. The plan is, to move GParted to your GNOME profile, so that the KDE ISO can be shipped with the KDE Partition Manager then. I dont want to mess up your repo, or send you a PR without communicating that first. Do you agree to that plan and where do you want to put GParted, if yes?13:23:41

I guess, but wouldn't removing gparted from the base graphical image have the downside of the base graphical image being less useful? That seems like the bigger downside
20:04:24
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)And so I'm not sure that's as much a question for here as it is for whichever team owns graphical images as a whole?20:06:02
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)(if such a team exists, I have no clue)20:06:49
@shalokshalom:kde.org@shalokshalom:kde.orgI am not so familiar with the ISO building process. To my knowledge, there are only two ISOs, one Gnome and one KDE. And when we remove it from the base image, it just goes to the Gnome specific profile 20:25:02
@shalokshalom:kde.org@shalokshalom:kde.orgWho would miss it?20:25:17
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them) I'm pretty sure I've built myself a rescue image from just the base forever ago. Regardless, gparted isn't part of gnome, and I'd hazard a guess that it's mostly included in the base config as a "power user" graphical tool. gnome-disk-utility is the equivalent of kde partition manager. I'd try to find the rather place to have this discussion via #dev:nixos.org /discourse, or by just opening a PR and requesting feedback on the change. 20:48:47
