@k900:0upti.meK900Can someone test that https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/280256 actually works as intended with GNOME?10:57:43

@hpfr:matrix.orghpfr can someone explain the partial gnome namespacing in nixpkgs? I am confused why a few packages are at the top level. it looks like mostly new ones like loupe and gnome-console. should the rest of the namespace get top level names for consistency (with deprecated gnome aliases for backwards compatibility)? thanks for any info :) 02:52:54
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfr I am not referring to gnome- prefixes btw, those are consistently for packages that use generic names rather than codenames and match with upstream. instead I mean e.g. gnome.gnome-music as opposed to just gnome-music, or gnome.totem as opposed to just totem 02:54:09
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar hpfr: we are adding new stuff to top-level since there is not much of a point to namespace, eventually, we are going to moving all/most stuff to top-level but it is not a priority 11:40:44

@setunset:matrix.orgFreeVariableHello, using the unstable channel and recently rebuilt. I am no longer able to specify "Adwaita dark" in GNOME Tweaks > Appearance for legacy applications. Any clue? 19:06:46

Thanks for your reply. This means I need to re-add gnome-themes-extra?
19:35:55
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnaryes. Or change it to Adwaita and enable the dark theme in GTK config (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GTK#Dark_theme_variant)19:43:35

I re-added the gnome-themes-extra and it works perfectly now, thanks for the lead!

@setunset:matrix.orgFreeVariable As I am lucky enough to have you online, is there a reliable method to get the latest rev mentioned here that builds on NixOS unstable? 19:47:13
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarthe config change might be better since it will use the version of the theme shipped with GTK itself19:47:28

do you mean you want to track the branch rather than pinned commit?

I have an idea how to track the HEAD, my question was whether there is any guarantee I could get before trying to build HEAD that it indeed builds
19:50:38
@setunset:matrix.orgFreeVariableI am asking because the rev mentioned in the wiki is a bit outdated, and the latest rev does not build.19:51:03
@setunset:matrix.orgFreeVariablei guess there is 0 guarantee?19:51:22

@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarthere are not any guarantees, someone asked about it here a few weeks ago, I pointed them out to the issue, and then they put it on the wiki19:52:26
@setunset:matrix.orgFreeVariableI see19:52:48
