@k900:0upti.meK900Hey folks, can someone take a look at an accounts-glib update? https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/27867310:55:46
@k900:0upti.meK900We're going to need it for Plasma 6 but it also affects Evolution10:55:58
@k900:0upti.meK900I'm running nixpkgs-review now but it would be nice to also test it at runtime because it hasn't been touched in like 4 years10:56:52

@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them) K900 ⚡️: Looking through the history (and I might have missed something) I don't think Evolution still actually uses libaccount-glib, having removed the one service it was used for in 3.31.1 - the only reference I can find to it now is this which just seems to have been missed in cleanup. I think it's probably fine to just drop it - and I don't think we package the plugin it was moved to either. 14:38:22
@vengmark2:matrix.orgl0b0 Right now, programs.dconf.profiles.user.databases[N].settings has a shallow structure like "org/gnome/desktop/interface". Would it be a good idea to try to change this to support nested attrsets, as in org.gnome.desktop.interface? 22:47:09

Anyone else having stability issues with the latest build (32f63574c85f)? Gnome, only Gnome suddenly starts to "hang" and I have to wait a few seconds for it to respond again. I can't move the mouse or do anything. Just out of nowhere.
I've had this & gnome wayland session segfaulting immediately. was thinking it was just some misconfiguration. no idea how i diagnose this. my jourmal has lots of errors.

I do not think it is a good idea. See the PR introducing it for discussion.

Do you have a link? I assume it's somewhere in https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/234615.

Basically, currently we have attrsets above and below the "org/[…]" keys, so changing to a nested attrset would allow people to organise the contents like any other attrset (such as grouping org.gnome settings in a single attrset).

We've done the same for example in programs.git.config.

@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)Hm, is there a way to get GDM to not show a "fingerprint failed" message every time if I have fprintd explicitly disabled for login in pam?00:32:51

there was quite a bit of back and forth. If you use Refined GitHub browser extension, you can alt click a collapsed item and it will expand all collapsed items of that type.

Cool, FYI it's this discussion. The point about duplicate keys is well taken - that should probably be documented so that it doesn't come up again in an issue.

* This comment - IIUC we can't support that with nested attrsets.
23:17:55
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnaroh, right – but since we do not support nested attributes, it is not an issue currently23:18:15

That's what I mean - it's a good argument against moving to nested attrsets.
