Is there a NixOS way to ensure GNOME shell & all desktop UI stays responsive when CPU utilization is very high?
nix-collect-garbage & nixos-rebuild often make my systen lock up when running. Other tasks do too sometimes, but most of the time, its one of these two processes.
That could be an I/O / paging problem as well. Do you have enough RAM? I found that having /tmp as a tmpfs is not smart on a NixOS machine that builds stuff in /tmp ;) | 18:26:05 |

| bembo | Okay so I sent this to the main nixos channel and got ignored ðŸ˜I've been having a problem for about a week or two where my system stutters a bit every ~2min or so. It's very unpredictable, and it's only really noticable when media is playing. I'm on nixos-unstable and I've been trying all kinds of things but nothing seems to help. I've tried switching kernel, switching nvidia driver versions, disabling fstrim, disabling podman virtualisation... Does anyone have an idea what could be causing it or at least some profiling tool to help me find the culprit? | 07:25:55 |
