@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar piegames: looks like gnomeExtensions.system-monitor uses the generated extension instead of the manually packaged one for some reason 20:33:10
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarso it is broken20:33:17

@piegames:matrix.orgpiegames Jan Tojnar noted. So I guess the extension is currently broken on NixOS installations? 22:16:55
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegamesAlso have they already released Gnome 40 support?22:17:14
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar piegames: the manually packaged version does 22:18:56
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar(it is from git)22:19:12
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegamesI see. So it already breaks because of lack of Gnome 40 support22:20:12
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegamesDo you happen to know if this is recent?22:20:30
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar piegames: I have noticed it about a month ago 23:41:12
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarmight be even older, as I do not restart gnome shell very often23:43:36

@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrI tried adding Nvidia drivers with AMD drivers and I'm getting an oh no something is wrong GDM error?23:50:51
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfr I checked gdm.service and it says Two services allocated for the same bus name org.gnome.DisplayManager, refusing operation. 23:51:54
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrthen I noticed there's also a display-manager.service23:52:26
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfr

which says

Gdm: GdmDisplay: Session never registered, failing
Gdm: Child process -1606 was already dead.
23:53:10
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrwhat's going on here?23:53:15

@hpfr:matrix.orghpfr it seems just adding services.xserver.videoDrivers = [ "amdgpu" "nvidia" ]; causes GDM to break 00:22:29
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegames hpfr Look for another issue of mine, from the beginning of the year 😁 04:12:46
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegamesThis actually the one that brought me back to Arch Linux for now.04:13:26
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegamesReminds me that I should have a look at it again, now that I maybe have a setup where I could bisect it (I'm totally out of any other ideas how to debug that one)04:14:43

@hpfr:matrix.orghpfr piegames: interesting, thanks. someone in GNOME asked me if "nvidia kms" was active, is that the modesetting option? if so then nvm 04:23:11
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrbecause I had that option set for the kernel param04:23:24
@hmenke:matrix.orghmenkeBoth Pidgin and Gajim (multi-protocal instant messengers) don't have a tray icon in the GNOME Wayland session.09:37:38
@hmenke:matrix.orghmenke I think they somehow have to link against libappindicator-gtk3 but I'm not really sure how to do that, especially for Gajim which is actually written in Python and therefore has no linkage. 09:38:36
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegames hpfr: Can you please try if https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/133304 solves the GDM issue? 09:40:08
@hpfr:matrix.orghpfrunfortunately not anytime soon, I switched back to AMD and will be busy for the next few weeks :(09:43:40
@hmenke:matrix.orghmenke Ah, Gajim was just fixed on master: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/commit/8eca45322c658321224d9dc58e19b701a2ba8b7c 09:54:48
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar hmenke: wrapGAppsHook will take care of adding the appropriate directory to GI_TYPELIB_PATH env var 12:00:49
