ElvishJerricco | hm. I'm building on my hydra, which is not a very optimized builder, so this is going to be a long process... | 00:28:21 |
uep | I assume you didn't push your rebase, I don't have that. | 00:35:54 |
ElvishJerricco | uep: It's my nixos-elvishjerricco branch on my nixpkgs fork | 00:41:36 |
ElvishJerricco | that's where I push the nixpkgs stuff I wanna use on my machines, regardless of if it makes any sense for anyone else :P | 00:41:56 |
ElvishJerricco | currently it's just nixos-unstable + gnome-46 + revert libxml2 | 00:42:14 |
ElvishJerricco | the rebase was almost entirely just conflicts on version bumps, where the gnome-46 branch had the newer version. But the glib package had some nontrivial conflicts that I'm pretty sure I got right | 00:44:47 |
uep | ok. guess I'll try that at some point once this fails (I'm just on the head of gnome-46) | 00:45:53 |
uep | it seems sensible to have some newer relevant stuff (e.g the pipewire update) but still a way off from anything being particularly relevant other than just getting a build | 00:48:31 |
ElvishJerricco | lol why am I building i686 git? | 01:18:50 |
ElvishJerricco | is it somehow in the closure for steam or mesa's 32 bit stuff? | 01:19:13 |
| @adam:robins.wtf left the room. | 02:24:15 |
| @admin:nixos.org joined the room. | 05:28:50 |
| Room Avatar Renderer. | 05:29:19 |
| @admin:nixos.org left the room. | 05:29:24 |
ElvishJerricco | oh sick, my branch built for one of my machines. Unfortunately not the one I actually want to test it on yet, because that one also has plasma6 enabled, which also seems to need a lot of rebuilds. But it's a good sign it's going to work | 06:44:36 |
uep | cool. mine did not. | 08:28:20 |
ElvishJerricco | uep: what broke? | 08:28:43 |
uep | at least gjs, which from above may be flaky tests. I just restarted to build some more in a different order and see | 08:31:11 |
uep | xapian was another | 08:31:46 |
ElvishJerricco | yea xapian is fixed on unstable since staging was merged | 08:32:13 |
ElvishJerricco | that's one reason I just yeeted the gnome-46 branch on unstable and prayed | 08:32:31 |
ElvishJerricco | * that's one reason I just yeeted the gnome-46 branch onto unstable and prayed | 08:32:39 |
uep | hm. yeah, I can probably shrink the build effort significantly by making my test machine not import common/full-desktop.nix which has a bunch of unrelated-to-gnome big apps.. like OBS and virt-manager and kicad | 08:49:52 |

uep | good thought lol | 08:50:35 |
bobby285271 | In reply to @elvishjerricco:matrix.org seems like it's a lot more than that. I rebased the gnome 46 branch on unstable, reverted the libxml2 bump, and still ended up with basically a whole world rebuild This is of course still a mass rebuild, starting from rebuilding glib. But libxml2 is really the only thing that should rebuild cmake. | 09:29:29 |
bobby285271 | (Don't know how useful this is, build-box.nix-community.org has nixosTests.gnome built on ad5aa45) | 09:29:35 |
uep | yeah, I just switched to Will's branch and I'm rebuilding ghc (again) from direnv updating my devsheel (because that has nom in it) | 10:07:34 |
uep | * yeah, I just switched to Will's branch and I'm rebuilding ghc (again) from direnv updating my devshell (because that has nom in it) | 10:07:52 |
uep | so there's something pretty deep down the dep tree that's chanced | 10:08:10 |
