@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)My subset of GNOME seems to be fine (I rebased the branch on ToT as of ~6 hours ago)00:52:38
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)Guess I'll comment out all my exclusions tho and see how that goes, but for the parts I care about, nothing seems broken or changed in any way00:53:11
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them) * Guess I'll comment out all my exclusions tho and see how that goes, but for the parts I care about, nothing seems broken or wrong in any way, so far.00:53:27
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)Journal seems clean too, other than the usual yelling about USB devices (thanks dell? apple? I don't know who to blame)00:55:27
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them) Jan Tojnar: How do you feel about cherrypicking in https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/136893, or at least the package bumps? Though I personally have a strong preference with matching upstream naming conventions, I'm not gonna push for that to be a thing. 00:57:48
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)Looking at the board you created, I am thankfully avoiding any issues with the ssh agent changes, as I was already avoiding gnome keyring in favour of gpg-agent... so I guess I'll actually try using this as my daily driver for a bit01:01:10
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar maxine (they/them): yeah, when I tried in the VM it was suspiciously calm 04:18:49
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarand the changelogs were also quite mild this cycle04:19:05
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarthe only major pain points are the ssh agent changes and libsoup3 shenanigans04:19:37
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar maxine (they/them): I am in favour, we can merge it directly to master 04:23:58
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnaronly thing I am not sure about is the alias – ideally we would either have glibmm point to the latest version and then pinned would not be needed04:25:33
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnaror we would have just the pinned04:25:51
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnar(either way we will break stuff outside nixpkgs)04:26:13
@maxeaubrey:matrix.orgmaxine (they/them)Could just have the alias pointing to old as a holdover for 21.11, and we drop it after the release is done? That way there's no immediate breakage, and by 22.05 it's been 6 months of that change being present, so no one can say it came out of nowhere :)09:42:13
@jtojnar:matrix.orgJan Tojnarsounds good too14:18:27

@ius:nltrix.netiusTrying to debug something which surely must've been solved many times before - I just can't find an example, was hoping someone here would know..09:13:12
@ius:nltrix.netius terminator (terminal written in python) shows up in GNOME with a correct icon, but once you run it the running instance doesn't have the correct name/icon (ie. generic icon and name .terminator-wrapped) 09:14:51
@ius:nltrix.netius Must be related to the .desktop file somehow. Now the interesting thing is that terminator is wrapped twice - i.e. there's a bin/terminator -> bin/..terminator-wrapped-wrapped -> bin/.terminator-wrapped. If I comment out wrapGAppsHook in the nix expression it's only wrapped once and the icon issue doesn't happen... why? 09:17:13
@ius:nltrix.netiusWhat's not helping either is that I don't know how GNOME is supposed to resolve icons for running processes, so I'm not sure what to look for.09:19:13
@piegames:matrix.orgpiegamesI don't know how it works on Wayland, but on X11 a window sets the WM_CLASS property which is used to associate the window with a .desktop file, and from there it can look up the icon.10:46:36
