@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrewThere is a drop after 4 days, cuz GNOME started ignoring LMB and I had to log out.23:00:18
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrewif this is all due to one of the extensions left on, then it's just ridiculous.23:05:15
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrew I left appindicator on, if it still goes bad, I'm gonna lose it. 23:13:38

@k900:0upti.meK900Well yeah that's definitely a VRAM leak somewhere 03:03:41

@setunset:matrix.orgFreeVariable The Gnome 48 PR looks ripe like a fresh fruit! Cannot wait 17:32:47
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrew

Is big used + swap says the same thing? Because without cache it's already at 13.6 GiB, with cache it's already over 15 GiB.

               total used free shared buff/cache available

@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrewIt's most definitely now much much better according to all stats, but I worry that if used + swap reach 15 GiB, it would mean that without swap my system will still die.21:07:16
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrewFrom the graph and umr for gnome-shell, it looks like there are no more leaks, so, hurray, I think?21:07:56
@ochoa:matrix.orgOchoa left the room.21:30:30

@k900:0upti.meK900 Cache will be released as needed 06:15:46
@k900:0upti.meK900That's why it's cache06:15:49
@k900:0upti.meK900So was it one of your extensions that was causing the leak?06:16:03
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrewBut what about swap? Surely with a few more days it will increase. Now it's at 7.35 GiB. Or is it if I remove swap, the "used" will not exceed? Like, how does it treat swap? As a spare space to dump more stuff, or does it use absolute minimum to function?15:29:08
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrewWell, I removed 4 more extensions https://matrix.to/#/!XQQVyIbcAcHFvzmcTl:nixos.org/$zFjjK3ZC8jRObtXlp2gHKZrlEg9kQCqodiy8d24uNU4?via=nixos.org&via=matrix.org&via=tchncs.de15:29:17
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrew* Well, I removed 4 more extensions https://matrix.to/#/!XQQVyIbcAcHFvzmcTl:nixos.org/$zFjjK3ZC8jRObtXlp2gHKZrlEg9kQCqodiy8d24uNU4?via=nixos.org&via=matrix.org&via=tchncs.de, so I guess some of them were bad.15:29:46
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrewI really hope it's not the input method one, since it's the most practical and why I now suffer switching between languages.15:31:06
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrewBut I mean, if it leaks, surely you can fix that, right?15:31:31
@k900:0upti.meK900 That's not how it works 15:31:15
@k900:0upti.meK900Swap is where things you don't use are dumped from memory15:31:26
@k900:0upti.meK900* Swap is where things you don't use are dumped to from memory15:31:29
@k900:0upti.meK900Yeah15:31:38
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrewwell, yes, but are they dumped because there is more free space for that? or will this not happen if swap is disabled?15:35:40
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrew* well, yes, but are they dumped because there is more free space for that? or will this not happen if swap is disabled?15:35:49
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrew* well, yes, but are they dumped because there is more free space for that? will the same amount of memory be allocated if swap was disabled?15:36:25
@k900:0upti.meK900If it doesn't happen, things will be kept in RAM15:36:15
@andrew15_5:matrix.orgAndrewSo my RAM usage would be 13.8 GiB by now?15:38:10
@k900:0upti.meK900Swap should not count to your RAM usage15:38:21
