anyone got fixes for the current gdm issues?

  • gdm not returning from sleep
  • login takes like 3 seconds, sometimes fails, have to try many times again, when logged in gnome-extensions somehow get disabled

from what I can find:

@leo:gaspard.ninjaEkleogHey! I recently upgraded from 23.11 to unstable (yes I was lagging behind a lot, now I have autoupgrade set on unstable so should not have the same issues again). I did the upgrade one nixos release at a time and with a reboot between each bump, to be sure I'm not hitting too many unexpected paths. However, since the upgrade, Gnome has been behaving very weirdly. In particular, mouse focus is very random: sometimes I click on a window and it clicks on the window below it, sometimes I click on a window and nothing happens, and sometimes the gnome control bar at the top of the screen doesn't accept clicks. Usually, pressing the Win key and then selecting the window (or clicking the gnome control bar from that Win-pressed space) works around the issue. I'm also seeing gnome control center freezing when trying to select the sound input source. Does anyone have any idea what this could be due to?23:13:31

@bobby285271:matrix.orgbobby285271In case there are Xfce users here, I plan to merge the Xfce 4.20 bump soon. If you think there are blocking issues please do say (xfce-wayland issues are not blockers 🙂)23:35:02

@er10:matrix.org@er10:matrix.orgHello, one simple question here : I've installed (in configuration.nix) a second wm (sway) yet gdm does not show it as an option ? What should be done ? Thanks for your aid.19:42:29
@k900:0upti.meK900Sway doesn't come with a session file19:48:18
@k900:0upti.meK900There's a thing to run those small VMs as proper sessions19:48:27
@k900:0upti.meK900That we have in nixpkgs19:48:30
@k900:0upti.meK900That I don't remember the name of19:48:34

@er10:matrix.org@er10:matrix.org(Thanks : yet, using gdm3, I can run sway along with other wms including gnome on other gnu/linux systems.)20:14:31
@k900:0upti.meK900Then presumably those other systems install a session file for Sway 20:21:24
