thubrecht | In reply to @jtojnar:matrix.org I have this. Maybe the options only show with p-p-d From my experience those options sometimes disappear from the settings, and a reboot might fix it | 13:38:03 |
Jan Tojnar | might be that p-p-d crashed or something | 13:39:02 |
K900 | In reply to@setunset:matrix.org Okay interesting, thanks. Perhaps I should enable it after all. I thought p-p-d would conflict with tlp It does | 13:39:58 |
K900 | Please don't use TLP it's bad | 13:40:01 |
FreeVariable | p-p-d better? | 13:40:20 |
FreeVariable | If they are both terrible I will be in trouble.. | 13:40:55 |
K900 | Yes, a lot | 13:46:11 |
FreeVariable | Do you have any source to back up the claim? I just want to tell sheer preferences from consensus. | 14:55:41 |

Grimmauld (moving to @grimmauld:grapevine.grimmauld.de) | Hey! Should gnome circle/world apps be prefixed gnome- or just have the "clean" name? Specifically, i am not sure about the name i should give the package for https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Upscaler, am between upscaler and gnome-upscaler | 15:00:39 |

Grimmauld (moving to @grimmauld:grapevine.grimmauld.de) | i suppose i'll just call it upscaler, but figured i'd ask | 15:03:46 |
FreeVariable | In reply to @k900:0upti.me https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/upower/power-profiles-daemon/#tuned-and-tlp Thanks I will give it a try | 15:15:23 |
Grimmauld (moving to @grimmauld:grapevine.grimmauld.de) | lollypop and fractal have no prefix either (also gnome world), so there is precedent. Won't prefix upscaler either then. | 15:26:33 |

@etcpanda:matrix.org | is x11 less gnome available in nixpkgs? | 19:57:33 |
| 17 Nov 2024 |
Jan Tojnar | etcpanda: no. You would need to override the packages to disable X11 yourself | 11:25:19 |
emily | upstream are slowly deprecating X11 support, so there may come a day | 11:27:16 |
emily | (though I imagine libX11 will be very slow to disappear) | 11:27:27 |
FreeVariable | @k900:0upti.me: Ok I can confirm p-p-d gives me a better experience so far. Thanks for the recommendation | 12:02:35 |

l0b0 | In reply to @sachesi:matrix.org hi! did someone have gdm "double login"? like first time doesnt login to system, and ask for password again Not anytime recently, but it can happen if the subsequent command fails for any reason. | 21:42:01 |

Arian | Hey I was wondering. why do we not run gnome-keyring-daemon as a systemd user service on NixOS | 21:43:21 |
Arian | like arch does | 21:43:29 |
| 21 Nov 2024 |
Jan Tojnar | I think we do the same thing (following upstream). IIRC, PAM module will launch it either directly or through systemd service (socket activation) depending on the situation. And XDG autostart will be used in some cases too. | 07:30:17 |
