jasi 🏳️⚧️ | otherwise you have a nice adwaita app that does nice adwaita things (type to search by default) | 03:33:12 |
@mcnesium:matrix.org | Running NixOS Unstable with Gnome 49, today I see the Gnome session crash and go back to the login screen, whenever I try to use the microphone of my bluetooth headset. This happens in all applications (tested Firefox, Chromium, Vocalis). It does not crash when using the built-in microphone. Journalctl says:
Gvc:ERROR:../subprojects/gvc/gvc-mixer-stream.c:535:gvc_mixer_stream_get_port: code should not be reached
Is this a Gnome or a NixOS issue?

Winter | anyone notice Firefox on (only) GNOME behaving weirdly when clicking and holding to do things like e.g. navigate the back menu? cannot repro on KDE but GNOME+Firefox's dragging stuff seems to make the cursor hit areas that it's not actually under | 00:09:44 |
Winter | i do not recall running into this the last time i used firefox on gnome on this machine ~6mo ago | 00:15:59 |
Winter | but who knows where the regression lies | 00:16:07 |

l0b0 | I've never heard of it, so I expect not? But how would I find out? It's not a plain NixOS option. | 13:27:16 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | It's a GNOME experimental setting, not a nixos option, and you have to set it via gsettings or using the refine app | 20:22:26 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | You can also set it via the dconf module:
"org/gnome/mutter" = {
experimental-features = [
"scale-monitor-framebuffer"
"xwayland-native-scaling"
];
};
| 20:22:49 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | gsettings set org.gnome.mutter experimental-features "['scale-monitor-framebuffer']" | 20:23:45 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | or via gsettings | 20:23:52 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | Here's the NixOS wiki page on GNOME https://wiki.nixos.org/wiki/GNOME | 20:24:45 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | I wrote some of the parts myself :) | 20:30:51 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | * gsettings set org.gnome.mutter experimental-features "['scale-monitor-framebuffer' 'xwayland-native-scaling' ]" | 20:39:37 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | * gsettings set org.gnome.mutter experimental-features "['scale-monitor-framebuffer', 'xwayland-native-scaling' ]" | 20:39:46 |

linsui | This simple file fix the dark theme for me after gnome-themes-extra is not installed by default.
pkgs.writeTextFile {
name = "adwaita-dark";
destination = "/share/themes/Adwaita-dark/gtk-3.0/gtk.css";
text = ''@import url("resource:///org/gtk/libgtk/theme/Adwaita/gtk-contained-dark.css");'';
}
Would it make sense to install this by default? This is basically what gnome-themes-extra provides. IIUC, some programs rely on adwaita-dark them instead of the new adwaita theme with both dark and light variants.

jasi 🏳️⚧️ | Which programs rely on adwaita-dark? | 17:29:22 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | It seems like only gtk2 programs need this, no? | 17:44:27 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | * | 17:44:42 |
linsui | No. Flutter apps, Tauri apps, JFX apps and maybe some more rely on adwaita-dark. | 17:59:17 |
linsui | Since gtk2 should be removed and I don't have gtk2 program installed after gimp is updated, I didn't look into that. But I thought gtk3 programs also need this. | 18:00:37 |
jasi 🏳️⚧️ | It seems like for tauri it affects v1 apps since they use webkitgtk, this tauri toolkit user seems to say its fixed in v2 | 18:08:15 |
