@bandithedoge:matrix.org | oh i'm dumb | 10:13:45 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | labs *is* also a bunch of kontakt libraries | 10:14:19 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | No, you aren't dumb mate, how could you know that you didn't even know the library | 10:14:21 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | In reply to @bandithedoge:matrix.org labs *is* also a bunch of kontakt libraries It is in format as far as I know but not in loading, there's another project, I think PianoBook that does that | 10:14:55 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | https://www.pianobook.co.uk/ | 10:15:09 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | Honestly I love how available these are but they are windows-tied | 10:15:25 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | try kontakt in yabridge then | 10:16:17 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | you might need the offline installer though since licensing is weird though | 10:16:45 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | drm on wine moment | 10:17:05 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | * you might need the offline installer though since licensing is weird | 10:17:16 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | In reply to @adham-omran:matrix.org No, you aren't dumb mate, how could you know that you didn't even know the library nah, i just didn't read the whole page | 10:17:37 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | In reply to @bandithedoge:matrix.org try kontakt in yabridge then I don't think it is possible to use LABS.. https://spitfireaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/5546747372061-LABS-FAQ Check the HOW DO I ADD LABS INTO KONTAKT? section | 10:17:42 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | huh | 10:18:51 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | well if it's in the kontakt format then there must be a way to load it in kontakt, right? | 10:19:26 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | In reply to @bandithedoge:matrix.org well if it's in the kontakt format then there must be a way to load it in kontakt, right? Doesn't look like it | 10:41:13 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and go full VM | 10:51:20 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | that's what i did once i figured out how to passthrough my haswell igpu | 10:52:36 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | not a fun experience but worth it | 10:53:03 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | I don't have a second GPU, I have an iGPU but I don't think I'll pass it, GXL works just fine | 10:54:30 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | In reply to @bandithedoge:matrix.org not a fun experience but worth it What makes it not fun for you? | 10:54:38 |
Brian Hechinger | In reply to @adham-omran:matrix.org Has anyone here experimented with usb passthrough to a windows vm for audio production? Yes, it's terrible. I had way better luck just doing PCIe passthrough of a USB controller. | 11:00:21 |
Brian Hechinger | This was trying to get my Maschine talking to its software on windows. USB passthrough was extremely unreliable. | 11:03:15 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | In reply to @adham-omran:matrix.org What makes it not fun for you? haswell doesn't support gvt-g (virtualized igpu) so passing the whole graphics controller is a little more involved | 11:05:45 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | it's technically unsupported and my setup is held together with hopes and dreams but it works | 11:07:04 |
@bandithedoge:matrix.org | i'm planning on doing a proper gpu passthrough setup once i have any sort of income and i'll look into making an opencore-based macos vm | 11:10:12 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | In reply to @bandithedoge:matrix.org it's technically unsupported and my setup is held together with hopes and dreams but it works damn | 11:10:44 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | In reply to @bandithedoge:matrix.org i'm planning on doing a proper gpu passthrough setup once i have any sort of income and i'll look into making an opencore-based macos vm I stopped with passthrough because
- My games work with Proton now
- Opencore Macos vms are a dying breed at this point
Honestly the dream died for passthrough, which is good and bad
| 11:11:41 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | In reply to @bandithedoge:matrix.org haswell doesn't support gvt-g (virtualized igpu) so passing the whole graphics controller is a little more involved That is actually pretty interesting | 11:11:51 |
Brian Hechinger | I also stopped passthrough because of the proton thing. I don't care about MacOS, but zero NKS support on linux means a VM is the only way to go with the NI stack if you want to use their controllers (and why would you use their software if you didn't) | 11:13:41 |
@adham-omran:matrix.org | In reply to @wonko:4amlunch.net I also stopped passthrough because of the proton thing. I don't care about MacOS, but zero NKS support on linux means a VM is the only way to go with the NI stack if you want to use their controllers (and why would you use their software if you didn't) Didn't know NKS support is dead on Linux :
Thanks for letting me know and sharing your experience | 11:30:51 |
