n3v3r_a9a1n | In reply to @Minijackson:matrix.org what do you use to see your connections ? I used to use that jackctl, can't say it worked great, it was just the only thing I could make working Right now I just started, Guitarix is the first audio thing i'm trying to setup | 17:48:23 |
Minijackson | you can use pw-viz if you want | 17:48:46 |
Minijackson | I used to use patchage, but it's not great either, IMO | 17:48:59 |
n3v3r_a9a1n | In reply to @Minijackson:matrix.org you can use pw-viz if you want Command not found 🫡 | 17:50:05 |
Guillaume Desforges | Most likely a guitarix configuration issue IMO | 17:50:35 |
n3v3r_a9a1n | Installed! | 17:50:48 |
Guillaume Desforges | Maybe try to setup ardour first? | 17:50:56 |
Minijackson | In reply to @xxxcrow:matrix.org Command not found 🫡 you can drop a shell with pw-viz installed like this: nix-shell -p pw-viz | 17:51:16 |
Guillaume Desforges | IMO it is a bit more featureful so you may find some configuration problem more easily | 17:51:28 |
n3v3r_a9a1n | In reply to @Minijackson:matrix.org you can drop a shell with pw-viz installed like this: nix-shell -p pw-viz Already installed, my matrix is way way way too slow to use 🫡 | 17:52:12 |
n3v3r_a9a1n | Also, should I install Guitarix and ardour as systempackages, or user? | 17:54:16 |
Guillaume Desforges | I just nix shell ans call it lol | 18:14:02 |
Guillaume Desforges | * I just nix shell and call it lol | 18:14:10 |
Guillaume Desforges | It does not matter I think | 18:14:32 |
symys | In reply to @Minijackson:matrix.org you can use pw-viz if you want I'll have to check that out | 18:15:43 |
Minijackson | else, the Patchbay of Carla is pretty nice | 18:17:31 |
symys | I was trying to do audio on NixOS for a little while, but I switched to AV Linux: MX Edition because I was too much of a NixOS noob to do anything I wanted. But my dream would be to have a fully declarative audio configuration in NixOS that I can spin up from a repo if, for example, a computer that I brought to a convention to do a livecoding set completely dies and I need to use a backup (I was actually in this situation, but instead it's how I ended up on AV Linux: MX Edition since I did not have the aforementioned dreamy declarative audio config) | 18:20:42 |
symys | In reply to @Minijackson:matrix.org else, the Patchbay of Carla is pretty nice Yeaaahhh, but, idk Carla is kinda buggy and not well maintained, I decided to stop using it recently and rely on ardour + qjackctrl for the same functionality | 18:23:29 |
symys | Long live ardour | 18:24:18 |
ckie (they/them) | mine is currently a resounding meh with pipewire | 18:36:11 |
Minijackson | I haven't found that many bugs in Carla so far, I plan on using it to make some live music, and I prefer launching something smaller than Ardour for this kind of setup | 18:36:36 |
Minijackson | Ardour 100% for recording / mastering though | 18:37:11 |
n3v3r_a9a1n | I found out that my main problem was usbguard 🤣 | 18:52:21 |

| yoggurt joined the room. | 19:27:03 |
yoggurt | Hello, is there any work necessary for making pipewire and reaper work together? | 19:28:22 |
Minijackson | I don't know much about reaper, but you might want to enable the jack compatibility module in pipewire | 19:43:06 |
Minijackson | services.pipewire.jack.enable = true; | 19:43:21 |
