 ctem | Hi all, returning to this after some time: the carla package builds the standalone app, which functions as expected: it has both 'Rack' and 'Patchbay' tabs, and in the core engine settings, both the audio driver and process mode can be selected. The package also builds LV2 and LXVST plugins for each mode: Carla-Rack for rack mode, and Carla-Patchbay (as well as several variants for additional channels and sidechaining) for patchbay mode.
The issue: in Ardour, all of the plugins load in rack mode, there are no tabs (for 'Rack' and 'Patchbay', etc.), and in the core engine settings, both the audio driver and process mode are grayed out w/audio driver set to Plugin and process mode set to Continuous Rack. I've been unable to find anything on this in the project's issue tracker, and it seems that this isn't in issue on other distros.
The question: has anyone been able to instantiate a Carla plugin in patchbay mode in Ardour (or any other DAW/plugin host for that matter) on NixOS? Thanks!

| ctem | Yes, the modular/nodal interface is the 'patchbay' mode. That's the one I'm trying to use for parallel processing within a single track (as an analog for the 'rack' plugins native to Ableton and Bitwig). I've found some alternatives like Kushview Element and White Elephant Audio's Syndicate, but they aren't in nixpkgs yet. There's also a clever script for REAPER called FXRACK designed to mimic Blue Cat's PatchWork, but it isn't purely JSFX, so I'm still considering my options. | 09:46:40 |
