Sandro 🐧 | but the RFC is not through 🤷 | 19:36:25 |
nrdxp | I'm one of the shepherds for RFC 101 and we were gonna having a meeting this Saturday. If you go ahead do the mass format, it kinda makes the RFC redundant 😅 | 19:38:16 |
nrdxp | we have a room if you wanna drop a comment:
https://matrix.to/#/#nixos-rfc0101:numtide.com | 19:38:43 |
tomberek | sorry, been out of commission for the day... anything that needs to be done? | 23:18:24 |
nrdxp | for the most part we are just waiting on hydra. I was just wondering if we should merge:
https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/138180 | 23:19:41 |
tomberek | who can take action on https://github.com/NixOS/nixos-org-configurations/issues/186 ? | 23:20:20 |
tomberek | (or is it not a matter of more machines? serial vs parallel dependencies) | 23:20:50 |
hexa | we're currently not getting more machines | 23:21:14 |
hexa | In reply to @jonringer:matrix.org found out that hydra resources were very low (we get spot instances, just high demand in those regions+instances) ^ | 23:21:51 |
hexa | * apparently we're currently not getting more machines | 23:22:08 |
jonringer | I've been bugging grahamc (he/him) already about it. Essentially we were "Starved out" of compute. | 23:23:48 |
tomberek | time to "pump up the volume"? https://github.com/NixOS/nixos-org-configurations/blob/2cd3261e37e3ac4e5befaac5891df4848f29365f/hydra-provisioner/nixops.nix#L21 10 cents? | 23:24:06 |
jonringer | Yea, time to pump it up | 23:25:48 |
@grahamc:nixos.org | There is capacity available but it requires provisioning in a different facility while I’ll be doing shortly | 23:29:14 |
@grahamc:nixos.org | (1-2h) | 23:30:30 |
@grahamc:nixos.org | Jon knows the backstory of why it took so long to get to today, which ran in to dinner for the family. | 23:31:03 |
@grahamc:nixos.org | just got 3 more machines spinning up | 23:48:21 |
@grahamc:nixos.org | (x86, arm to come) | 23:48:32 |
jonringer | Hmm, only haskell-update jobs seems to be getting built: https://hydra.nixos.org/status | 23:51:43 |
jonringer | * Hmm, only haskell-update jobs seems to be getting built for x86_64-linux: https://hydra.nixos.org/status | 23:51:55 |
@grahamc:nixos.org | fwiw the new machines might take a bit to come up | 23:54:20 |
@grahamc:nixos.org | its netbooting across the ocean | 23:54:29 |
| 20 Nov 2021 |
jonringer | We went from 6 concurrent x86_64-linux builds, to 60. Thanks grahamc (he/him) | 01:48:48 |
@grahamc:nixos.org | 🎉 we should be going up a bit further when the other two machines finish their reinstall cycle | 01:49:18 |
| nykw joined the room. | 11:10:46 |
sterni | In reply to @jonringer:matrix.org Also, @domenkozar:matrix.org would like to do a mass linting across the code base before branch off.
And I would agree. A lot of merge conflicts are related to odd formatting, and it would reduce the amount of "don't look at that code" which has been hanging around in nixpkgs for too long linting maybe, but format is not feasible atm; nixpkgs-fmt still changes the content of formatted strings (maybe necessarily so), so you are looking at another full rebuild basically | 12:46:00 |
sterni | I'm not sure why this has come up super late in the release cycle for the second time in a row now :p | 12:47:55 |
hexa | sneaking in a fmt while the rfc is still open is a no-no.- | 13:23:57 |
hexa | * sneaking in a fmt while the rfc is still open is a no-no. | 13:23:58 |
sterni | that as well | 13:27:12 |
