@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy Eckenrode

To expand a bit on my reply in https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/304350: unless it’s decided that Darwin LTO is to be in 24.05, I was planning to target unstable after release. It does some cleanup (see https://discourse.nixos.org/t/darwin-updates-news/42249/10), which should be mostly non-breaking but still could be disruptive.

Issues so far: GCC fails to build. I think the SDK’s Availability.h has issues, but I need to investigate.

@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeI would like to get my libiconv update into 24.05. Mostly because it packages ATF, Kyua, and Lutok; which may be of use to those working on FreeBSD support.11:59:33
@wegank:matrix.orgWeijiaOh, merging too fast.12:00:09
@wegank:matrix.orgWeijiaIt's now 00:00 AoE, btw.12:00:14
@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeIt’s a draft PR at the moment because I have some fixes in my ld64 branch I need to cherry pick back.12:00:20

@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeThe update should be non-breaking (which I thought the deadline for breaking changes outside of a few core packages was May 1).12:02:19

@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeThe LTO stuff would have to be a release team call. I’ve been assuming not making it. Just wanted to expand on the clang change. It mostly does nothing right now, but it’s required for LTO once ld64 is updated.12:03:40
@reckenrode:matrix.orgRandy EckenrodeI can cherry-pick the fixes to my libiconv and get that PR back into ready for review. They mostly concern being ready to build/link with the updated ld64. I had a race condition in one of my meson.build files that the ld64 update exposed.12:05:59
