In reply to @hexa:lossy.network
have we spent any thought on the redis situation?
I might need a reminder on what the situation even is

@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyare the freeze dates the first day at which breaking changes are disallowed or the last day that they are allowed? and what timezone do we use?16:01:53
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyi.e. do breaking changes to release critical packages need merging today on the 10th or can they be merged tomorrow on the 11th too?16:02:09

There's specific dates of when the freeze is done in the schedule

@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyI know16:03:53
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilythey don't answer my question which is about whether the interval is open or closed16:04:04
@rosscomputerguy:matrix.orgTristan Ross

Nov 8th: Unrestrict all breaking changes; new changes will not be present in master before branch-off

16:04:11
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyI'm confused. I'm talking about the October 11 deadline16:04:22
@rosscomputerguy:matrix.orgTristan RossI would say that as soon as Oct 11th hits, no breaking changes.16:04:54
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyok16:05:06
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyin which timezone?16:05:10
@emilazy:matrix.orgemily (no breaking changes to release-critical packages, right? the schedule implies that every other package can be broken until the 25th) 16:05:37

Yeah, only critical packages like GCC, LLVM, etc just cannot be broken.

@rosscomputerguy:matrix.orgTristan Ross

The implications of RFC 0085 are that these packages can not have breaking changes applied to them for six weeks leading up to a release date.

@adam:robins.wtfadamcstephens Are we going to format the tree before 24.11? 22:44:15
@sigmasquadron:matrix.orgSigmaSquadron

cc @infinisil:matrix.org

22:44:58
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyformat would be easy to do across both branches at least22:45:32
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyeven if it misses release22:45:37
@infinisil:matrix.orginfinisilYeah as emily says, it doesn't really matter much when it happens22:45:58
@infinisil:matrix.orginfinisilArguably after the release it better because there might be less open PRs22:46:21
@infinisil:matrix.orginfinisil * 22:46:37
@infinisil:matrix.orginfinisilThis has taken longer than anticipated, we're still hashing out some major annoyances with the format 😅22:47:25
