hexa | we're lots of previous release managers in this room who can answer questions, and we have a release documentation that we've iterated on for a few releases now | 11:19:46 |

westexjeff | In reply to @hexa:lossy.network https://nixos.github.io/release-wiki/Release-Process.html Perfect! just what I was looking for. Thanks | 11:21:14 |
Weijia | In reply to @hexa:lossy.network and we need a primary to take care of the announcements etc. I've modified the reply on Discourse, I'm now applying for a (primary) release manager position. | 11:30:01 |
hexa | Thank you! | 11:30:22 |

figsoda | In reply to @wegank:matrix.org I've modified the reply on Discourse, I'm now applying for a (primary) release manager position. Hi! Thanks for the application! I think you would be a great fit for the primary release manager role. I haven't made the decision on who will be the new release editor yet, and I'm still sorting things out. Once that's done, we can start the onboarding. | 04:37:17 |

PowerUser64 | If there's a release that needs editing, count me in! I'm a native US English speaker and I have an eye for grammatical problems. Let me know what needs to be done! | 05:30:22 |
Vladimír Čunát | The text are certainly not there yet, for some time. | 05:31:23 |

PowerUser64 | Regardless of what needs to be done, I think this sounds like a fun role. I'd love to know when things start moving on this. I shouldn't be a lead editor because I don't have experience specifically writing release notes, but I can certainly help if I have some guidance. | 05:38:25 |
jonringer | "backup" for me is if someone else doesn't step up, I'll step up. | 21:37:03 |
tomberek | figsoda: Glad to see the extra announcements helped. Anything else you need? (i also RM'd a while back and can assist as needed) | 22:21:04 |
jonringer | Also there to assist :) | 22:32:24 |

figsoda | I don't think I have the capacity to consistently commit time to release management, and I'm stepping back from the Release Manager role. I'm nominating Weijia (primary) and jonringer (secondary) for 24.05 based on the discourse thread.
It's been wonderful working with everyone for 23.11, I will still be around for 24.05, feel free to ask me for help, I just probably won't be as active.
Sorry that I sent this message weeks after when it should have happend - I should have stepped back earlier so we wouldn't be behind the release schedule.
P.S. I haven't been as active in nixpkgs and my nix-community either. I'm not leaving the community, I just haven't been as active partly because of life and partly because of burnout. And for anyone concerned - I'm fine, just a little busier than I used to be.

jonringer | For what it's worth, I think you did a great job figsoda . Take some time, you deserve it :) | 01:50:13 |
jonringer | Weijia: not sure when you want to meet, but I think it would be good to come up with the release schedule and plan the next steps up until ZHF. | 01:52:00 |
jonringer | figsoda: don't forget about release editor as well :) | 01:52:13 |
figsoda | In reply to @jonringer:matrix.org figsoda: don't forget about release editor as well :) Would you mind picking the release editors for me? I asked alejandrosame and they would be busy during 24.05, so we would need 2 new release editors. Thanks! | 01:53:57 |
