Old clang is easier to drop than old gcc? IIRC we didn't get far there.
We can indeed drop 5 & 6
14:19:54
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusNot 7 because GHC 8.8.4 depends on it and we… still have GHC 8.8.4 in nixpkgs.14:20:05
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát The pushback for gcc removal was for versions unused in nixpkgs. 14:24:12
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát * The pushback against gcc removal was for versions unused in nixpkgs. 14:24:21
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír ČunátBut gcc is probably more common for our users than clang/llvm.14:26:55

Yes but GCC is a bit special here
14:33:32
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusWe use it as our way to bootstrap nixpkgs, etc.14:33:37
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusClang / LLVM is not on the bootstrap path because noone worked yet on "LLVM-only Nixpkgs"14:33:57

@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát Dropping unused LLVMs isn't considered a breaking change, right? Or you give yourself an exception. 15:49:45
@vcunat:matrix.orgVladimír Čunát * Dropping (most likely) unused LLVMs isn't considered a breaking change, right? Or you give yourself an exception. 15:50:00
@hexa:lossy.networkhexathere is no harm in waiting 20 days for it15:52:45
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusI'd say that most of the dropping are unproblematic except for Kibana15:53:12
@hexa:lossy.networkhexathe important point is that it happens eventually15:53:19
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusThey were long due, maintainers were pinged15:53:20
@hexa:lossy.networkhexayeah, the ELK stack is sorely undermaintained15:53:30
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusI would kill it before 23.11 to be honest15:53:38
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusAt least, the Kibana side15:53:41
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusOr I would bump Kibana to support Node.js 18 but it's like15:53:55
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusmaintaining people living a dream?15:54:00
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusI don't know15:54:03
