Mic92 (Old) | This summer is crazy. I am invited to 5 weddings as well. | 06:05:29 |
Mic92 (Old) | I got 5 new fancy machines to run nixpkgs-review. Let's attack some zhf PRs! | 06:07:41 |

jonringer | Leaving in 10 hrs for my honeymoon. Wish all the nix-ers a good ZHF, and the RMs a good release :) | 02:16:24 |
Vladimír Čunát | Any opinions on https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/170856 ? Simply revert to older xorg-server, for 22.05 at least? | 11:34:11 |

Janne Heß | I asked Graham to create the jobsets in advance and it doesn't appear to be an issue. The jobsets will not evaluate anyway because the branches are missing so this doesn't create additional load and gives us flexibility since we can just start evals from the hydra ui | 20:17:49 |

Cloning jobsets and adjusting their parameters is quite easy. | 20:18:36 |

Janne Heß | In reply to @vcunat:matrix.org I also have the permissions, BTW (for future reference). Cloning jobsets and adjusting their parameters is quite easy. The docs just state "the infrastructure team" and the less people we have to wait for the better imo. The docs now state to ask the team 1-2 days before so we are flexible in case multiple people from the infra team are unavailable | 20:21:14 |
Vladimír Čunát | You could say ask in https://matrix.to/#/#infra:nixos.org or something. | 20:23:18 |
Janne Heß | Yeah, I linked that. If you are interested in the WIP chapter (not finished because I haven't actually branched yet): https://github.com/NixOS/release-wiki/pull/40 | 20:23:44 |
Vladimír Čunát | Ah right. I have the "Infra Team" term associated with a much narrower set of people (and corresponding private room). | 20:26:22 |
Janne Heß | In reply to @vcunat:matrix.org Ah right. I have the "Infra Team" term associated with a much narrower set of people (and corresponding private room). Ah, I don't think I can expect every release manager to be part of that private room ;) | 20:27:14 |
Vladimír Čunát | The room you link is much better for this. | 20:27:48 |
Vladimír Čunát | I'm not on the infra team itself, but I can create jobsets (in nixpkgs and nixos projects). Though I'm not sure how many other such people exist. | 20:28:32 |
Janne Heß | Probably not too many | 20:29:11 |
Vladimír Čunát | Release managers commonly do get restart/cancel privileges at least, right? | 20:31:31 |
Janne Heß | In reply to @vcunat:matrix.org Release managers commonly do get restart/cancel privileges at least, right? Yeah, I have everything except admin and create-projects | 20:31:53 |
Janne Heß | So also the bump privilege | 20:32:02 |
Vladimír Čunát | Right, that's relevant. | 20:32:48 |
Janne Heß | Vladimír Čunát: about your comment: is there any reason to lower the scheduling shares rather than just disabling the jobset altogether? | 20:47:31 |
Vladimír Čunát | People still push to them sometimes. | 20:48:19 |
Janne Heß | ummm what? | 20:48:26 |
Vladimír Čunát | Say

Vladimír Čunát | To me, removal of support is just removal of commitment/guarantees about maintenance. | 20:50:18 |
Vladimír Čunát | But if someone still wants to do it, I can't see why block it. But naturally it should have lower priority on the shared infra. | 20:50:55 |
