@infinisil:matrix.orginfinisilFeel free to decide yourself though17:39:28
@proofconstruction:matrix.orgproofconstruction Could always silently rename the series to "Last Month in Nix..." 17:49:26
@zmitchell:matrix.org@zmitchell:matrix.org I would prefer to just do it at the end of the month, and then try to be better about not forgetting (itโ€™s even on my calendar to do it ๐Ÿ™„) 18:13:11
@daxvena:matrix.orgdaxvena removed their profile picture.23:41:35
@daxvena:matrix.orgdaxvena set a profile picture.23:42:27

Did we miss any highlights?
I'd consider devmode (https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/243062) a highlight given that it makes working on the manuals a more pleasant task.

@alejandrosame:matrix.orgalejandrosameAlso, I made a tiny update to the credits of OR16:25:03

@asymmetric:matrix.dapp.org.ukasymmetricwhat do you think about this? https://github.com/asymmetric/nixpkgs/blob/doc-support-tiers-redux/doc/stdenv/platform-support.chapter.md16:11:47
@asymmetric:matrix.dapp.org.ukasymmetric it's a lightweight version of my previous draft pr, trying to avoid getting to deep in the weeds of which platforms belongs to which tier, whihc was proving quixotic 16:13:16
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusi686-linux should appear in that doc17:47:17
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusWe do have minimal (as in minimal image) support for i686-linux atm17:47:31
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusWe should probably invite people who want to get involved in i686 maintenance to step up as we are slowly going the road of removing i68617:47:46

i686-linux should appear in that doc
How/where would you mention it?

@asymmetric:matrix.dapp.org.ukasymmetric
In reply to @raitobezarius:matrix.org
We should probably invite people who want to get involved in i686 maintenance to step up as we are slowly going the road of removing i686
Then I'm not sure it's worth adding it to this doc
17:51:45
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusWe have folks asking for i686 every time and then17:52:01
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusIt would be nice to have a coherent story to tell them17:52:06
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezarius"i686-linux support is currently on an best effort basis given the lack of maintenance, it may be removed in the future."17:52:15
@asymmetric:matrix.dapp.org.ukasymmetricIs i686 a special case, or does the above hold for a bunch of other platforms as well?17:52:38
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusi686 is a special case because it's hardware that fewer and fewer people have but people with strong opinions on computers are always on the chase for i686 supporting distributions17:53:26
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariuswe are one of the few last ones who still has some way of supporting i68617:53:39
@asymmetric:matrix.dapp.org.ukasymmetrichah interesting, why is that? who/what uses that?17:53:56
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusSustainable computing, 32 bits is all you need, not throwing out perfectly functional 32 bits hardware17:59:56
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusThis type of niche community18:00:05
@raitobezarius:matrix.orgraitobezariusFor me, removing i686 makes sense because the 32 bits kernel is not really maintained18:00:22
@penguincoder:matrix.wolfie.pw@penguincoder:matrix.wolfie.pwGentoo also supports spending-all-of-your-time-on-a-computer with the i686 architecture!18:00:39
