Hey there! I'm Siddhant, known as siddhantk232 on GitHub and as fpenjoyer on Discord. I've been using NixOS as my daily driver for over 2 years now and have been actively promoting it whenever I get the chance. Although I've only made one PR in nixpkgs, which was simply a version change for an already packaged binary, so I'm not sure if that really counts. Nevertheless, I've contributed to OSS projects outside of nixpkgs, mainly in the field of web development.

Recently, I introduced Nix at my workplace, where we now utilize it for cross-compiling a Rust binary for Windows from Linux. Additionally, we've begun incorporating Nix into a couple of our private Rust projects.

I'm interested in applying for Nix Internals: Use std::filesystem::path for Path. Although my exposure to C++ has primarily been academic, limited to problem-solving on platforms like Leetcode and Codeforces, I find the language to be quite feature-rich and expressive. I also enjoy staying updated on new C++ standards through cpp weekly videos. Contributing to this idea would not only enhance my understanding of Nix's internal workings but also deepen my comprehension of how complex projects effectively utilize C++. Moreover, I'm intrigued by the broader vision of porting Nix to Windows.

I'm also intrigued by the nixpkgs pnpm tooling project, primarily because:

If you decide to work on this project you will gain a lot of knowledge about the gears that make nixpkgs turn, namely things like setup hooks and fetcher.

Although I have previous experience with Node.js, my exposure to pnpm has been limited. Thus, I'm excited to delve into pnpm while simultaneously contributing to its support in Nix.

i've been using nixos on vps deployments and on/off as my daily driver for 3 years now. i love functional programming.

i know crystal isn't exactly a functional language, but with some of my earlier personal work (a webscraper the likes of yt-dl with support for many streaming services) having been in crystal, i have a soft spot for it. i'd love to contribute towards the first class support for crystal applications.

i'm intimately familiar with nix, haskell, agda, and ocaml, but have yet to really put my domain to use in public. i would love to be of help!

Hello, I am Riya Bisht from India.
I’m a third year student studying Computer Science and engineering in college. I am learning Rust, Web Assembly and Compiler theory while working on a research project. Previously, I have contributed to open source projects like Unikraft and enjoy low level intricacies. I have been into Nix/NixOS community since last 5-6 months. I’m using NixOS machine since last few months.
The reason why I got interested into Nix is because of its reproducible and immutable nature. I have been distro hopping all my life and its real pain when I have to set up my system configurations from scratch everytime I shift to new machine but with NixOS configurations setting up system configurations becomes easy, fast and fun. I would like to implement Nix philosophy in all my personal projects and also give back to the community by contributing to the codebase. I researched the Nix ecosystem very well and found out that major limitation of nix is that it lacks accessiblity. Though I came to know about Determinate Systems Installer that aims to make nix more accessible, I tried playing with the installer. I was also working on a project Nixpie last year to make nix more accessible for everyone but the project requires an in-depth work and understanding of nix internals so I would like to bridge that knowledge gap by contributing to the codebase. I have also attended NixCon, Nix developer dialogues 2023, and summer of nix lecture series virtually to understand the nix intricacies.

I have basic familarity with nix, nixos configurations(my NixOS dotfiles ) and interested to work on nix-cleanup-merge-parsedderivation-into-basicderivation-improve-json-format project project.

Hi everyone this is Amrit Prakash from India .You can find me on github as solo-daemon. I am currently a bachelors student at IIT Roorkee. For the last two years I have been working on a web-framework omniport which allows colleges to auto-deploy their services and a website for their college. For a long time we have been using docker. But we faced some problems in our developement setup on peer systems and due to non-compatiblity of some packages with images. It was then that we introduced nix into our development ecosystem since then things have been a lot smoother because of the non-dependency on the docker's virtual machine especially on mac systems. I am introducing myself to the nix project and the technologies it is build on, in the hopes of contributing to the nix project.
