i just learned about GSoC and was hoping i could still get involved if i'm not too late to start? i'm new to Open Source and NixOS (i've used it for about a year now), i'm new to how this process works too, but i am excited to contribute to NixOS because i'm a big fan of its approach to declarative deterministic packages. i'd be overjoyed to have the chance to contribute as part of the GSoC program while i'm in-between my CS education.
i feel very confident that i can exceed with the "Review Nixpkgs PRs" project.

I recently tested the maddy update (0.8.2 → 0.9.0) by building it with nix build on my system (x86_64-linux). The build succeeded, and I was able to run the binary and explore its functionality.
While testing, I encountered configuration and permission-related issues, which helped me better understand runtime behavior beyond just successful builds.
I’m continuing to improve my testing and review workflow and would appreciate any feedback on how I can make my reviews more useful.
